Unfortunately I leave this not so great review. This place didn't work for me and am perplexed at all the high reviews. This place is along the platte river bike path and saw the high reviews for this place and thought I'd stop and check it out while biking one day. Also was assuming it was focused on local, fresh, seasonal foods type of a place given all the emphasis on local farmers, etc. which is the kind of place I love. But unfortunately I was wrong and won't be back.
I ordered a coffee and the breakfast sandwich. The coffee was warm at best and not good like it had been sitting out for awhile or in a serving canister.
But worst of all is when the sandwich came it looked really unappetizing and frankly gross. The slice of cheese was not melted and was just a hard, square slice on top of very gross looking sausage and egg. The bread was equally gross. And if you like some sort of dressing, e.g. mayo and/or greens there's none of that, just stale, dry, old bread.
I reluctantly bit into the sandwich and found it was completely frozen! So that's why it looked so gross - it is just a de-thawed frozen sandwich that they serve and not freshly made/cooked which was what I was expecting.
I went up to the counter and told them the issue and really just wanted a refund as I no longer wanted the sandwich at all anymore. Who wants to eat de-thawed frozen eggs and assuming a highly processed, gross sandwich. Just go to McDonald's for that.. actually sadly a breakfast sandwich at McDonald's is probably better than this sandwich...
But alas, they gave me another sandwich that was properly reheated this time and I reluctantly ate it since I paid for it, plus tip and I was starving, but I gagged my way through it. It was gross.
They said they got a new oven and pressed the wrong button. I can only assume that that the "oven" they are referring to that they pressed the wrong "button" on is a microwave "oven"...
So unless you like to eat highly processed, reheated frozen food from a microwave feel free to eat here.
Also if you don't like to be bothered with loud kids running around and looking for a nice, quiet, relaxing place this is also...
Read moreWe waited more than hour for food, watching as people who arrived after us got their meals. I don’t mind being patient, but after an hour our hungry 4 year old was understandably upset. They did give us a full refund, but by then the damage was done. I’d come back and get coffee or wine, but I will never again count on them for actual food.
Edit: We did actually give the restaurant a TON of grace. Any other restaurant that fed countless tables who arrived after we put in our order, before they fed us, would have heard from us much sooner than more than an hour after we ordered. They told us they were short staffed and we adjusted our expectations. But after the table next to us was given almost our exact order before us, even though they arrived after we’d been waiting 30 minutes, that was the beginning of the end. I appreciate what this business is trying to achieve as I wish more establishments in Denver would adopt this model, and I appreciate that the restaurant gave us our money back, but that doesn’t excuse they chaotic way that orders are filled. This suggests more than a staffing issue. And I’ll add that we weren’t the only family who had to ask for a refund tonight. The one star rating was given because the floors and tables were filthy, the bathrooms were filthy, and had the service gone another way, we would have excused all that. But I can take too long to feed my child in a messy atmosphere at home for free. Paying over $100 before tip seems like a weird price to pay the...
Read moreThis has long been one of my favorite coffee shops and a go-to spot for first dates, thanks to its versatile offerings—you can grab a coffee or a beer any time of day. It even holds sentimental value as the place where my wife and I had our first date. We returned this morning for breakfast, and while the atmosphere retains all the charm it’s ever had—if not more—the food experience was a letdown.
Twenty minutes after ordering, we received a text instructing us to step outside and pick up our meal from a trailer, then bring it back in. I went out immediately after getting the message, but by the time I returned to the table, both entrees were lukewarm. With full cell service, it’s hard to blame a notification delay on my end. Either the staff waited too long to send the text after the food was ready, there was a glitch in their system, or—perhaps—the food was plated on cold dishes left sitting in the trailer overnight.
On top of that, the suggested tip options—18%, 20%, or 25%—feel excessive for what’s essentially self-service, especially since the menu prices are comparable to full-service breakfast spots on Broadway. I understand Denver’s high cost of living, but this setup comes off as a bit of a cash grab, particularly when they don’t bring the food to your table.
Still a great spot for a drink, but will probably skip on the...
