It was my first time visiting this place and I couldn’t get a picture because I was literally starving. The pictures in other reviews are literally a great representation on what to expect. While reading the reviews I learned about their sustainability efforts, while being on site I did not get any information that will inform me of that, so I am a little biased. The food tasted good but the rice got all stuck at the end of the cardboard container so it was a little annoying, the portion of fish is so limited and little, even when paying for a regular size, my portion looked the same as my friends on his “snack” portion so I felt it wasn’t fair. The service is nice, people that work there seemed kind. Its definitely a different feel for poke bowls compared to the regular poke places that you would visit. I think its a good choice if you are in the area, they only have takeout tho. On their door they have a sign that says: “wear a mask or show vaccination proof” and while I had my vaccines I didn’t have the little card with me so I had to wear the masks while ordering. Just beware of that if you don’t want to wear a mask while in line. Overall a 4 star experience but the...
Read moreHoly smokes, man. This is the best poke I have ever had. The brothers who run this place have some seriously refined palates, and this isn't just a "sushi meat-sprouts-rice-and we're done" operation. They make some amazing side salads (Poi'tato, Hearts and Thoughts, Wasaba-mole, many others...) that keep each bite bouncing off the one before with new sharp, clean, and fresh flavors.
Also really appreciate their efforts to spotlight fish that is sustainable and often locally caught. Don't be put off by the trout and other freshwater offerings -- I was hesitant at first, but they work really well with the house-made dressings. Finally, if you are struggling with what would go with what, the guys are really helpful in putting together ingredients that play well together. I've had some pretty amazing poke bowls here just by ordering "do what you think sounds good."
I feel really lucky to have these dudes in the neighborhood. My girlfriend and I get take out here often and I haven't had a bad meal yet -- the quality is always really high. The pride they take in what they do is really evident.
Hope you guys are weathering Covid okay, and thanks so much for...
Read moreThis establishment has the best poki I've ever had. My partner and I always look forward to our nearly weekly trips to get turtle boat. The portions are great, and they have a variety of selections. They will kindly steer your selections to help you make the best combination for your palette.
They drinks and hot sauces they sell are all from local businesses, too! And local art on the walls.
I just had the coconut sweet potato soup, and I'm a big fan. I had it cold, like a custard. I have a new favorite dessert now.
Sometimes at the end of the day they may run out of a kind of fish, or wasabamole. But that's just to be expected at the end of the day, for...
