We have mixed feelings about this place. We'll start with the positive. The staff is very friendly and we were treated kindly during our visit. The place is very clean and well taken care of. I think after been following the news for a while, we were really expecting more and were let down. We understand the clean air act but were really hoping for an outdoor patio to smoke as advertised earlier. We were only allowed to vape and dab inside, which we can do basically anywhere else. We brought our concentrates but didn't know that there were no dab rigs, and the ones you can buy there are not great. We were told it was because of hygiene reasons. Well, at all the other 420 lounges, they have them. What about the complimentary coffee? we wondered... that only amounted to a keurig maker and bring your own keurig pods... For a place advertised as a 420 coffee shop, it was very dissapointing, specially after visiting Amsterdam. They are not a coffee shop, there is no menu or coffee bar whatsoever. Everything is prepackaged. We also read that they would be offering infused toppings for ice cream and were excited about it. Except, the toppings were not infused and you had to buy them yourself next door, misleading advertizing. We can see the intention but we think there's so much more that...
Read moreI came in last week to see what this place was like. I'm a local Denverite, not a tourist. I wanted to share some feedback. I'm glad this place exists and want it to thrive, but I would say the space itself is not really conducive to enjoying marijuana. Myself, and everyone I know who consumes marijuana, wouldn't want to hang out in an office space with fluorescent lighting. We want to be in a relaxed, comfortable setting. I understand why you have the garage space, for various events that require that type of space, like live music. That's good, but I would suggest changing things in the conference room. Put in some kind of dim lighting, like small lights along the ceiling, to replace the fluorescent lights. Replace the large conference table with a couple small tables for the activities. And then add couches, armchairs, maybe a bean bag. Play chill music, light some candles. That's the kind of place someone who's just taken some weed wants to hang out. It's conducive to congregating and chatting while high. If an example is needed, just look up the Flying Pig smoking lounge. That's a hostel in Amsterdam. Or just coffee shops in Amsterdam. I...
Read moreI wouldn’t come back. I arrived at The Coffee Joint at 2:10 PM and am writing this over 30 minutes later — still not having been helped. When I asked, the dispensary employee next door told me the lounge staff was likely on lunch and that I could just wait. It felt odd and a bit unprofessional that the space would be left completely unattended for so long, with no signage or clear communication — and that the dispensary had no awareness of the lounge’s operations.
I understand that this is a community-based, nonprofit-style effort, and I really respect the mission and the vibe they’re trying to create. But as a first-time visitor, it was frustrating to show up during open hours and receive no support or clarity. The location is also in a very industrial area, with nowhere nearby to kill time, which made the wait feel even longer.
Maybe I should have called ahead, but I do think it’s fair to expect basic staffing and communication during posted hours. If you’re planning to visit, I recommend calling first to confirm someone is...
