We had previously visited Englewood a year prior and had a pleasant experience. We didn’t love the food, but the view and patio seating is phenomenal, our server was great and the beers were fantastic. However.
For this visit, we were welcoming a new physician to Hershey Med and thought we’d give Englewood another try and we greatly regret our decision. We arrived early for our reservation but were still seated right away. Our guests were running a little late so when our server asked if we were ready to order, we said we’d prefer to wait. She seemed fine and went off to her other tables.
Our dinner went downhill from there. When our server came back to take our orders after our guests arrived, she seemed to be very agitated. When we misspoke about an appetizer, she looked at us like we were wasting her time.
Our food arrived quickly. We had ordered the clams which looked delicious; however, after I had 2, I asked the table if their clams were also very sandy - everyone agreed. We decided we not going to eat it since seafood can be dicey if not prepared well.
We didn’t even have an opportunity to tell our server as the two times she came to check on us, it was literally a less than friendly “how are you all doing” while she continued to walk away from us. There was never a chance for us to respond and we had to ask another server for sauces. We also had to go inside to the bar to get our own refills. After all that, she stopped one last time to ask if we needed boxes; when we replied yes, she once again did not wait for us to say anything further, and when she returned with boxes, she threw them onto the table next to us and walked away again.
I have been in the service industry my entire life and have legitimately never experienced a worse dining experience due to the behavior of a server. In the beginning, I absolutely gave her the benefit of the doubt; servers have a very difficult job and I can understand if she was having a bad day. But as the meal went on, the way she treated us was truly unbelievable. Had we not had guests, I absolutely would have asked her if she had a problem with our table to justify her behavior.
The silver lining to our dinner was the bartender inside. She was incredibly sweet and we really appreciated her kindness.
Unfortunately, it’s just not enough for us to come back again, nor would we recommend it for any upcoming events for...
Read moreJuly 2025 update: I am pleased to report that Englewood is back, baby!! My latest visit revealed the return of the amazing beer Bam-Ba-Lam. Moreover, the senior staff of excellence has returned, including Mary and Tyler, who should be requested on your visit. Most important was the return of the amazing NY style pizza, the Farmhouse Trio, and Buffalo wings (ask for Buffalo hot). I also had an amazing salad, Berry Walnut, with blackened chicken. I don't want to exclude the amazing mixed cocktails mixed up by Justin (spiked lemonade and blackberry smash). LASTLY, we were treated by an unsolicited visit from owner Stevie, who was absolutely charming and went out of her way to make our visit exceptional. Next time I go, I will be hunting for her and her husband to join me for a meal as they were an absolute delight. It's time to go back to PA's favorite barn brewery, who will welcome you with open arms.
April 2025: Ever since they had a flood and finally reopening after 6 months, all of the staff have been replaced, including the kitchen team. PA's best pretzel is gone, beer selection was limited, and the pizza replaced with what tasted like Elios from a box. The pasta and sandwiches were good, but the place is just not the same. I only hope everything comes back, including the beer...
Read moreIt's a beautiful facility that has been well remodeled. Drinks were good and the appetizers were good, the best was a Cheesesteak Poutine. Dinners fell short. The pizzas were reasonable, but fries came out cold and soggy. Our waitress did get them replaced, hence the two stars. Mahi tacos consisted of shredded "unknown fish". If I'm paying for Mahi, put a piece of fish on the taco, not a spoonful of Friskies. The ratio of fish to vegetables was off as well. Desserts? I can't say I remember the last time I had to say that every dessert was a disappointment. Peanut butter Oreo pie? Grey, no peanut butter flavor. Maple bacon creme brulee? Chewy, pizza topping bacon tossed on a creme brulee... not hot, warm or more importantly CRISPY. Tiramisu? Frozen, placed on a plate and left to thaw at room temp for several hours. The edges were sagging and the bottom was so wet/swampy it looked like it had been swimming in a bathtub. The carrot cake was the opposite, dry as a bone. Our group had 9 members, from Foodies to 2 Executive...
