As a native resident of the area and someone who recently hosted my sister’s wedding at the Hershey Country Club, I feel compelled to share my experience to help others make an informed decision about this establishment.
First and foremost, it's important to understand that despite its name, this is not a true country club - it's a resort operation masquerading as one. This fundamental misrepresentation sets the tone for many of the issues we encountered.
The level of disorganization we experienced was staggering. We spoke with three different employees and received three different cost estimates for our event. Even more concerning, we didn't receive a finalized bill until a month after our wedding. The financial impropriety reached its peak when they charged our credit card without authorization - a serious breach of standard business practices.
When we attempted to address these issues, the situation only deteriorated. The General Manager's approach to conflict resolution was particularly troubling. Instead of working to resolve the issues professionally, we were met with condescension and threats of legal action - even though they were clearly in the wrong. The GM's dismissive attitude and unwillingness to take accountability for the club's mistakes was both surprising and disappointing.
While Hershey Entertainment and Resorts may pride themselves on their reputation, as someone born and raised in this community, I can attest that their current standards fall far short of what they claim to represent. They seem to have forgotten that their members are the ones paying their salaries.
For those considering a membership or planning an event, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. West Shore Country Club, for instance, maintains the true values and standards of what a country club should be. They understand and respect their members, maintain clear communication, and uphold the traditions and service levels that define a genuine country club experience.
Save yourself the frustration and money - choose an establishment that values transparency, respect, and proper service standards. The Hershey Country Club, unfortunately, no longer meets these basic...
Read moreFirst off, I am an employee of Hershey Entertainment and resorts family, and Im sad to post this but I feel the need. I paid alot of money for a charity event to win a greens fee and cart for 2 on the country club. When I called, I was told that they cant provide a tee time for employees but that they would try to get us a tee time when we arrived. When I checked in, I in fact did receive a tee time. The inside desk agents were friendly and helpful, however when I went outside to have our clubs put on a cart, I was informed that since I was an employee that I would have to walk up the steps and across the parking lot to get my own cart. (Are you kidding me?) I have played there many times and never was told I had to go and get my own cart. We also had to load up the cart ourselves and not once did any of of the bag agents offer to assist us. I even had the tip money ready for them. I apologized to my brother (my playing partner, who had never played the course before ) for the way we were rudely treated. The course was beautiful and fun and again after the round the bag men looked at us as if we didnt belong there. Being an employee of the Hershey Entertainment and Resorts family , you would think that we would be treated as well as any member or guest and we certainly were not. I have often recommended the country club to our guests, and I can only hope that they do not treat the guests I send there, the way we were treated. I sincerely hope that in their next meeting this gets discussed. * The course however was beautiful and well manicured* Hats off to the...
Read moreThe course is well groomed and challenging. It is very expensive. I was disappointed to find that the staff was very unprofessional. Not everyone but it only takes a few people to make your experience bad. I think they are used to high-end clientele and if you are an average Joe ,like me, you don’t get treated well. They greet you curbside to assist with your golf bag. This particular employee put my gear on a cart that was in use. Someone drove off with my personal shoulder bag in the back of the cart and I never got it back. My daughter, not a golfer, wanted to come along for the ride. She is an athlete and wares expensive workout clothes. Some woman from the pro shop came down to the first tee after we already hit our first shot, and stopped us. She said my daughters arms were showing and that was inappropriate. She embarrassed my daughter in front of a handful of people interrupting our game. If there was an issue, it should have been addressed when we were in the pro shop. I have never seen anything like this on any golf course I have ever played. And I have played a lot of courses. This woman’s name was Sarah. I only know that because my daughter told me. I was never approached or given a courteous explanation as to what was going on. Even their own employees in the area look stunned by this woman’s behavior. We will not be returning to this establishment. There are other nicer courses with a better price with courteous people that will treat you the way you deserve to be treated. Mark this place off your list....
