I called to place a to go order. I was a little nervous given my experience with other restaurants in the city. They were only accepting one form of payment at the time. They seemed to be busy, which can be a good sign, but maybe not. I order the Chicken Curry and LambTikka Masala, Vegetable Samosa, Pratha, and Aloo Gobhi, and the Garlic Naan. I was very happy with the price and portions. I was originally disappointed in the flavor, not because it was bad, but because I ordered mild. (That was my fault.) The food was good though we enjoyed it. The next time I tried medium, this was the right amount of heat, but I guess I need between medium and mild. I can’t remember what I ordered the last order, but I got it to go as well. We eat Indian food so this is a nice change from all the Mexican restaurants. What I am more thankful about is the customer service of the restaurant, Kam, is very nice. I have met several owners and staff in various restaurants in this town. Not all are as friendly and as knowledgeable. Not all of them are welcoming and offer friendly customer service. Taste of India was very welcoming. I have stopped eating at some of our local restaurants because of the quality of food and lack of customer service. So if you want good food and great service. Please don’t hesitate to try Taste if India. You will not be disappointed. Also there is a vegan menu and food can be ordered to your palate as far as spices are concerned. Thanks...
Read moreFirst things first; Where is the Mulligatawny Soup?! Now, don't get me wrong, I am not questioning the authenticity of the restaurant, I am just surprised that I couldn't find the soup on the menu. So, it left a little hole in my heart and a little unfulfilled. Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately greeted by Santiago. There was absolutely no wait. Aside from him, the restaurant comes across as "unwelcoming" (for lack of a better word). There is a wall dividing the dining room from the kitchen, and it drastically takes away from the overall aesthetic. It also gives the restaurant a cramped feel. I only cared about the food, so none of the above-mentioned negatives are a match for the incredible cuisine! I truly enjoyed the freshly made dishes that weren't sitting under a heat lamp waiting for an unsuspecting patron. I highly recommend It's Taste of India. If you've never had Indian food before, you're in for a life-changing dish no matter what you order from the menu. The menu has a lot of options. A great number of them are vegan. I am a fan of spicy, and that is exactly what I got. The Lamb Saag was so good that I finished it before I realized it. I neglected to try any of the beverages, and I wished that my order had come in huge portions. I guess I'll just have to return soon. To hold me over until then, I ordered another dish for the road.
Don't you...
Read moreWas excited to try this place. Ended up being disappointed and leaving hungry instead. If you order mild there will be ZERO flavor! I can’t stress this enough, it’s bland and the mango lassi is watered down, sour, and has no mango flavor at all. For about $20 per plate I was expecting more. And ordering mild was their excuse for the bland flavor. We ordered lamb saag and lamb tikka masala, both of which I have had from at least a dozen other Indian restaurants around the world on mild spice levels, and this was the first time have ever been to an Indian restaurant I didn’t like. And the lamb masala tasted like it had coffee grounds in it or it had been burnt. I’ve never had any masala that had this taste. The woman serving us asked about our experience and I told her I didn’t like it because it tasted bland and she blamed it on it being mild. I would love a full refund since they didn’t even offer to take the food I didn’t eat (mango lassi and lamb saag) off the bill. Y’all definitely didn’t deserve $25 for those items. Will never return to this place.
If you really want Indian food go to LA area or Big Bear, it’ll be worth the drive...
