I always try to leave good reviews but this place was the first time I've ever been there and it was the worst Mexican food that I've ever tasted I am an extreme foodie and I've eaten all kinds of Mexican food and never have tasted this kind before the grease was so old that my tortilla with my taco salad tasted like grease with every bite and I only took two bites by the way I ordered with shredded beef and they put like two cups of just a clump of shredded beef on top with this sauce that didn't even taste Mexican and there was maybe one inch of lettuce then this 1 lb clump of shredded beef no sour cream no guacamole no tomatoes it needed more lettuce we ordered a chicken burrito for my grandson opened it up there was no cheese nothing but this square brown meat and maybe a few big chunks of some chicken but was not recognizable so I really don't know what kind of meat was in it the chili cheese fries or the nacho fries whatever my granddaughter ordered just was like this greasy sauce that was put on it it did not have sour cream guacamole nothing like that on that either overall I would never go back there again and I spent $62 for four meals we asked for small drinks and they gave us these humongous 64 Oz cups no wonder it was that much I felt like there was no regard or respect for the girl who was taking our order she just put down whatever and they just did not take care of giving us good quality food like I've always heard that they have I don't know if it was just us we are white and black but I never tried to play the race card but sometimes it makes you wonder when you hear so many good reviews about a restaurant and all of a sudden when you go to the window you get this nasty food I threw my taco salad away I threw my grandson's burrito away and my granddaughter threw up after she ate the nacho fries because the grease got to her stomach you're talking about a 7-year-old and a nine year old kid so I don't know I'm sorry you guys but I just can't give you...

I'm a new resident to DHS and the restaurant selections here are very limited, so if you're from the I.E/O.C./L.A. then you will be disappointed.

Disappointed. That word is the subject matter for this post. I ordered Carne Asada Nachos...keep in mind I'm used to places like Tony's in San Bernardino, Taco Del Rio in Azusa, El Chilito in Downey and places like Albertos.

Back to these Nachos I ordered. Sigh... Well, I received a $10.00 bag of chips with that nasty Kraft fake cheese stuff you can find at 7-11 and remnants of unidentifiable meat product that I conclude was Asada.

Actually, the first sign of trouble began when I picked up the bag from the nice lady at the window. The weight of the bag...must have weighed about the same as a small Red Bull. Immediately disappointed, I drive home thinking I should have just went on into Palm Springs.

I test Mexican restaurants on Nachos because either you cheat the customer or give them their money's worth. If you cheat em on Nachos then you're probably cheating on everything else you make.

If other menu items are better than this I guess I'll never find out, because I'm not giving hard earned money over for inferior nachos when the competition puts out a far better version for the same or even less. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by other places and have taken Nachos for granted elsewhere...I’m not sure but these Nachos don’t cut it.

Customer Service was...

Hello,

I been twice to this Restaurant.

El Matador Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the warm and newly remodel inviting atmosphere will transport you to a cozy cantina south of the border.

The menu is full of traditional Mexican dishes, each prepared with the freshest ingredients and bursting with flavor. Whether you're in the mood for tacos, Burritos, or Fajitas, you won't be disappointed with the selection at El Matador. The portions are generous,

The service at El Matador is also top-notch. The staff is friendly and attentive, and always willing to answer questions or provide recommendations.

In addition to the delicious food and great service, the prices are also very reasonable, making it an excellent value for the quality of the food and overall dining experience.

Overall, El Matador is one of the best Mexican food restaurants in the area, offering exceptional food, a welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding service. Whether you're a local or just passing through, be sure to stop by and experience it...

Awesome old school Mexican restaurant in Desert Hot Springs California that has been revamped with a nice clean look. Externally it still has that old school original look but when you go inside it's nice and fresh. The food is delicious the drinks are amazing and the service is great they also have a window on the side of the building that you can order out to go. It's a little pricey but the food is great (large in portions) and the drinks are super size. I recommend you try out this restaurant when you're on the 10 freeway passing through the Palm Springs area in in Southern California in the little town of Desert Hot Springs California.

It’s was ok but just ok. Salsa and chips were very good. The Skirt steak lacked flavor and somewhat overdoing. But still a decent plate and generous servings. The queso Birria tacos were a surprise. Whenever I have had them at other restaurants they had been fried and had a crusty shell . These corn shells were soggy, not crispy as expected , however the flavor was very good with excellent dipping consume. Beans and rice , not bad. Service was ok. The one guy at the bar maybe had a little to much wanted all the servers listening to his stories. They seemed trapped while we waited awhile for our bill. Over all not bad but not great.

I had lengua tacos from here, and they were good. The toppings and the guacamole salsa they gave us with it was tasty too. I really enjoy their cup of champurrado. I think the prices are fair for the food. My only complaint was that I wish they offered a bigger size of champurrado! So delicious. Their torta looked so yummy, I almost stole a bite from my boyfriend. The employees were polite, great service. I would return here.
