Crystal Sands in Destin by Vacasa — Hotel in Destin

First, just want to say our main priority is the best beach view and access we can get. This definitely delivers! The somewhat disappointing part of our condo was the quality. Cosmetics: lots of dings/scrapes/mismatched color spots on the walls, any place that has caulking and baseboards looked to be done by an amateur and hastily, fridge has some rust spots, hole for the fire sprinkler in the ceiling cut too big so there's a huge gap, ceiling fan has a bent blade, grout in bathroom cracking and you can hear it as you walk on it. Cleanliness: the main areas were clean (kitchen, bathrooms, beds) as expected. However, all trim had a build up of dust and dirt and all vents had build up on the ceiling/walls where they were located. I realize at home these aren't things you clean each week. But if you had house guests you'd make it a point to clean it. Just seemed that it was given the same care as a rental to college students-- things are technically clean, but no one is going above and beyond. (Also, our parking permit wasn't provided when we arrived. Had to call get have them deliver one.) App: thought the app was really convenient and a great way to communicate with the guests. However, the wifi instructions didn't work. Took us most of the day to realize there are a different (and correct) set of wifi instructions on a fridge magnet. But again, the beach view is amazing, the private access is amazing, dolphins come by in the morning, caught (and nicely released) hermit, ghost, and sand crabs. This is why we come to Destin. The condo delivered on that and then some. Just wished a little more thought and effort was put into the actual room. One other wish: unfortunately, many guests just leave trash all over the beach. (Plastic bags, snack wrappers, and water bottles really ruin the beauty and can be hazardous for the wildlife that are part of the attraction) I realize that Crystal Sands can't force guests to pick up, but it would be nice to see reminders on the beach and in the rooms about keeping the beach clean. P.S. to turn on the shower, pull down on the ring where the water comes out on the tub spout. Have never seen a shower set up like this and it took a day to...

You can survive no issues- if- IF you have no kids and very understanding adults. Pros:1 awesome locations, polite people, easy check in, accommodation ok, safe and easy access to shopping, food, elevator, etc.beautiful beach.. beautiful condo view!!

Cons: 1. Rust! Cabinet corners had rust, water damage and dust accumulation- in bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms. Even the utensils. 2. Wi-Fi- the worst! It would just stop working! 3. Bedroom door lock- it gets stuck now and then 4. The maze of the bathroom! Not to say how the BR bedroom door makes it difficult- 5. Small spaces for restroom and bathroom! Not at all comfy or suitable for beach condo!! 6 instances of panic during the stay when we thought we locked ourselves not to mention the kids going bonkers! 5. Second day we heard every step, every door close and what not from the above floor. Apologies to the ground floor who had to endure us! We tried but kids! Ohh and the fridge had all Info but..: BUT .. condo says leave the thermostat at 74 and the check out info say 78! :( no good, I ain’t going back for this.. Unrelated to the condo - this place/town/area has the worst ever Verizon network - SOS for almost an Hour before reaching the city center and after was barely.

202B Crystal Sands, Destin, FL FILTHY! COCKROACHES IN BEDDING, holes in screens a foot across. One patio door wouldn't open AT ALL. REFRIGERATOR had LOUD SCREACHING NOISE! We had been in another condo earlier in the month and asked to see what 202B looked like. We were told it was being "deep cleaned!" Almost laughable if it wasn't so gross. We arrived late Christmas Eve so no one on staff was there until 2 days later to actually talk to about it. Just poorly managed. Only reason to stay here is the location if you don't mind the bugs and the decor being DIRTY and from 20 years ago as well as the appliances. Grease on cabinet handles. Roach poop and pubic hairs under bunk bed mattresses. Dust everywhere. Grime on the painted cabinets. Roach fell out of bedding. Alive! Bedding was also stained in the miserable dated state that it was. Not enough for cold weather. See photo of king beds. Mattress topper on a VERY OLD MATTRESS! Bunk beds and sofa mattresses weren't better. Basically, 3 nights of miserable sleep. No cutting board in kitchen. Other kitchen stuff old but adequate. I venture to guess that the original curtains were up for twenty years and hadn't been cleaned. The floor in bathroom actually moved when stepped on. It was soft underneath. The shower head was pitiful. You can't make this stuff up! Just...
