La Barista — Restaurant in Detroit Lakes

There were 3 or 4 employees working and noone in line, but one other person waiting for their drink. There were quite a few people having lunch though. I ordered 2 drinks, a smoothie with lemonade blended in, and a Strawberry Italian Cream Soda. I had wanted a passion fruit one but they no longer do those. Fairly simple drinks. It was roughly a 10-15 minute wait to get those. I would expect that if there had been a bunch of others in line first, or maybe if I had ordered a coffee drink (but even then it would still be a little long). But for these 2 drinks that was quite long.

The strawberry smoothie lemonade was pretty good, very nice balance of sweet and sour. The Italian Cream Soda left me slightly disappointed. I think it was too much tonic/seltzer, as I didn't taste much of the cream or strawberry flavoring.

I will definitely go back because they are friendly and prices are good, just hopefully it will be a bit faster...

A great place to grab lunch. Employees are very nice and welcoming and they were helpful as well. The menu is easy to read and there is space where you don't have to be 'in the line' to view the menu too.

Parking, you will have to either park on the street or in the bigger parking lot in the back. It's very easy to find parking.

Food. Food isn't bad at all. Got the sandwich below and it was more than enough for lunch. Price is good for what it's worth and given.

Atmosphere. A good place to chat but if you want quiet and peace, I would not recommend it. There is WiFi available here, which is very convenient if you need it.

Overall, we were disappointed with our experience at La Barista. It took what we considered an unreasonably long time to get our food given they were not very busy. My bagel sandwich was cold and bland. My spouse's breakfast panini was good - hot and tasty. The coffee was good, and they did give us free refills on the coffee. The atmosphere was bright, open, and airy. Our food was brought to us, but we needed to bus our own table. Oh, and if you go, there is no direct entrance from the street, you must go into the mall to get to...
