Fredâs Delivers on Healthy Comfort Food in Detroit
âââââ (5/5 stars)
Detroitâs breakfast and lunch scene just got a major upgrade with Fredâs, and I couldnât be more thrilled to have discovered this Eastern Market neighborhood treasure. From the moment you walk in, youâre greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly balances modern aesthetics with cozy comfortâthink fresh flowers on every table and thoughtfully curated details that make you want to linger.
What truly sets Fredâs apart is their commitment to proving that healthy eating doesnât mean sacrificing flavor or satisfaction. Their breakfast sandwich is a masterclass in execution: perfectly melted cheese cascading over what appears to be an expertly prepared egg, all nestled in a beautifully golden, artisanal bun. The attention to detail is evidentâeven the black pepper sprinkled on top shows they care about the final presentation. My favorite so far is the Brown Rice Bowl with grilled chicken with a strawberry matcha.
The presentation of every dish and drink is Instagram-worthy without trying too hard. That gorgeous ridged plate elevating the breakfast sandwich? The fresh flower arrangements? The contemporary art work adorning the walls? These touches show that Fredâs understands that we eat with our eyes first, and theyâre clearly committed to making every meal feel special.
What impressed me most was how Fredâs has cracked the code on healthy diningâthis isnât rabbit food or bland âwellnessâ cuisine. This is thoughtful, delicious food that happens to be good for you. The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and you leave feeling energized rather than deprived.
The service is always attentive without being overbearing, and despite being a newer establishment, theyâve clearly worked out the kinks. Food arrived promptly and at the perfect temperature.
Detroit has needed a place like Fredâsâsomewhere you can grab a quick, healthy breakfast before work or settle in for a leisurely lunch with friends, knowing youâre fueling your body with quality ingredients. Whether youâre a health-conscious foodie or just someone who appreciates well-executed comfort food, Fredâs delivers on all fronts.
This is the kind of neighborhood spot that becomes a regular habit, and frankly, Detroit is lucky to have it.

Read moreGenuinely cannot say enough amazing things about this place. Visited from LA and surprised there wasnât a line out the door with how incredible the food and drinks were. Iâll definitely be coming back to Detroit just for this place.
The Strawberry Matcha had actual chunks of strawberries in it, and the iced latte had a bold flavor that wasnât too milky. We got the breakfast burrito and the spicy chicken sandwich. The burrito was so unique and flavorful, unlike any breakfast burrito Iâve had before. Spicy chicken sandwich is to die for. Not too spicy...

We both ate from one anthers plate amazed how good the dishes were. We also had the Kale shake . I never tasted a shake so good. The service was great and Fred was soo hospitable. He even gave us a tour of the upstairs bar which we came back to later that evening. The music and drinks were on point. This is one of Detroits newest...
