We were in town for a quick trip and stumbled upon this incredible place. We’re so glad we did! The service was amazing. My son ordered the pork they were roasting in the back, and the waitress even let him see it! They even invited the whole family to the kitchen to watch it roast. It was such a memorable moment, and the kitchen was spotless! The entire staff was so friendly and welcoming. We indulged in some delicious food. Three of us ordered street gyros, and the other plate was the roast pig. Of course, we couldn’t resist dessert! The waitress recommended two desserts, and we tried both. They were absolutely amazing! I can’t remember the names of the desserts, but one was a custard with filo dough and syrup, and the other was a light lemon cake with syrup. Both were so tasty! I wish we were in town longer so I could come back for the Bronzino and lamb kebab. We’ll have to wait...
Read moreWe recently visited Spitiko Greek Tavern and while the food itself was fine, the experience left a bit to be desired. There were a few small errors during our visit — the wrong salad was delivered, and one part of our order never made it to the table. The server was friendly and polite, but with only two tables occupied in the restaurant, those mistakes really shouldn’t have happened.
What truly soured the visit was seeing that the gratuity had already been added to our bill. Sorry, but that’s something I should decide. I always tip well for good service, and in this case, she actually would’ve earned more had I been given the choice. Automatically adding a tip for a party of three is unprofessional and leaves a bad impression.
The place has potential, but details like these make a big difference in whether customers come back. Let your guests decide the gratuity — it’s the right...
Read moreI wanted to share my positive experience at Spitiko, a restaurant I recently discovered in Greektown. We were working a few blocks from Monroe Street, and despite the construction, it was an easy walk to the restaurant. I found Spitiko after searching for "Saganaki" on Google, and I'm so glad we decided to try it.
The service was excellent, and the owners were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. We, of course, ordered the Saganaki, and it was perfect. For my meal, I had the charcoaled octopus, which was delicious. My husband ordered the lamb chops and said they were "some of the best I have ever had." As I don't typically eat lamb, I take his word for it!
I highly recommend this...
