The Turkey Grill — Restaurant in Detroit

2 stars is GENEROUS and they're only getting that because my auntie liked her turkey basket that came with fries. I can agree with her on that. It was absolutely delicious. I'll give y'all that. Perfectly seasoned wings and perfectly seasoned crunchy fries. However, I spent $75 and the majority of our food was terrible! I wasted my money. The turkey basket was the only thing that was edible. The turkey bites were tough, unseasoned, and dry. The macaroni was laughably disgusting. The greens were greasy, oily, and flavorless stewed into a slimy orange pot liquor. The 'candied yams' were a pitiful unseasoned mashed sweet potato suffle. HA! NOT CANDIED YAMS AT ALL. The peach cobbler was ATROCIOUS. It was poorly flavored with mushy/raw crust that had sat so long it literally disintegrated into a sandpaper like texture. The food was really nasty. A terrible experience. Quite awful. It didn't just taste old, it was literally nasty. It made us all make the most horrendous faces as we tried each thing that we'd ordered. Even my five year old nephew twisted his face up when he tasted the peach cobbler. They didn't even try. I have a lot of Instagram followers and I really should expose because y'all are super foul for selling me that garbage. DO BETTER. I lived on Seward when I was at Wayne State and I used to get food from you guys all the time. It's really sad to see what once was a Detroit staple doing so badly. Also, the lady who took my order does not need to be answering the phones. Her phone voice is very unpleasant. I wouldn't want someone who spoke that way representing my business. I have been going to Turkey Grill since they opened, I grew up on the North End, but today was my very last time ever coming into this establishment. I stopped coming in for a few years because they had a young lady at the register with the WORST ATTITUDE imaginable, and my order was always incorrect. But I decided to try to come back and support and give them another chance once that young lady was gone. I would come in almost weekly to pick up for my aunt but every time something was not correct. I stopped in on this past Friday and placed an order for the Friday Gumbo special. My muffin was partially wrapped and hard as a brick. The Gumbo container was only 3/4 full and that was the 3rd time getting Gumbo and not getting a single napkin or cutlery. Not to mention they tried to overcharge. But today.... Ohhhhh today was the breaking point. I ordered BREAKFAST. Grits and sausage. Thats it. Seems simple. After waiting 45 min, and almost being involved in a Griffin Royal Rumble between an employee and an insane rude customer, I was told it would be about 7 min for my food.....15 more minutes pass and still no BREAKFAST. I asked for my money back and that was a whole new ordeal. 1 hour almost I waited for some grits and sausage...NO NO NO NO. UNACCEPTABLE. Woooo Saaaa. This service, quantity and quality of the food has tanked and honestly is not worth my time. Definitely not worth the money. I hate that I have to post a review like this about a place I had loved since the beginning but the Turkey Grill has gone downhill and I can't support anymore. I would always bring family by when they were in from out of town but now we have to find a new business to support. Sorry George but you have lost a long time...

This was our first time trying this restaurant, and it was Great!!! We are from Cleveland and come to Detroit about once a month, and we will be ordering from here when we visit. I felt the price was fair for the amount of food you receive. The turkey was huge, crispy, and spicy, and we loved it. The salad was very good, and I loved the Cajun spices they put on the salad, I never had a salad that was seasoned. So that was really delish, the only suggestion I would make with the salad was, it had alot of water at the bottom of it. Also with the salad it had alot of dressing on it. I will ask for the dressing on the side, I didnt know it came on the salad. But the salad tasted great. So that was the only correction I would have made. Also as I was leaving, I talked to the owner and he was really nice and welcoming.I love supporting black businesses that are truly showcasing their talents!! And clearly this place is!!! Also the ladies was very friendly and it was a very pleasant experience!! I dont know if they have dessert, but if they do i will certainly try it on my visit in a few days. If I get horrible service or Excellent service, I try to write a review so I can share my experience with others. You wont be disappointed, its worth the money, and your tummy will thank u!!!My husband and I will be coming down on friday and we will definitely make a visit.
