Ok let's start with I used to love this place , went there opening weekend and a bunch of times since . Service has progressively gotten worse which leads me up to today . We went around 7pm seated immediately, and then half an hour later still no drinks or even an acknowledgement that we were there . Just our menus and our hungry toddler. When we went back up to the front to get someones attention we were pretty much ignored and the people next were told that someone will be right with them . We had to get the attention of this employee and asked to speak to manger and she said "yes , wait actually our manager is not here right now , I will get our most experienced waitress " few minutes went by and nobody appeared and in the meantime we explained to the other potential customers what was going on . So after all was said and done no one came out to help us . And we and everyone in line left . This is not acceptable at a place where you will spend 150+ per meal . If your going to charge "5 star " prices you have to play the part and show why your are worth the money . So tonight they lost their business to coopers and in the future I will be going to try flaming crabs in Wilkes Barre . Ive recommended this place to everyone I was so happy to have something like this close to home . And now I'm disappointed to...
Read moreHarbor Crabs makes me think of a Joe's Crab Shack or something similar, like an Applebee's with a nautical theme. This is a fun seafood place and one of the better seafood joints I've tried in the Scranton valley. I wouldn't call it a Cajun place, as there's only poboys and spicy fries, but no other Cajun staples on the menu like boudan sausage or etouffee.
I ordered a fried tilapia basket, but got a poboy instead. I didn't bring it up to the server cuz she was running off her feet with all the tables, and honestly, the poboy was pretty good. The fish itself very done just right, but it was bland--tasted good with all the fixings added.
The Cajun fries taste like spicy home fries (with something like either Old Bay or blackened spices). There's a ton of really good fish--everyone looked like they were enjoying all the crab legs and everything they ordered.
It was nice that it wasn't loud in the dining hall, but the bathroom speakers were cranked up.
The bathroom sink is quite difficult to lean over if you have back issues or if you are in a wheelchair--it has a deep counter.
The host and server were really friendly, and I thought the service was good for the number of tables and people in...
Read moreWent here for the first time for my Husband's birthday on a Friday night. He has been talking about this place for weeks, that he wanted to try it. We were seated right away and the waitress came promptly to order drinks. Our appetizer, raw oysters, came out in a timely manner and were tasty. Followed by our main course, it was neat how it was presented in a bag, until I realized the whole thing most of been cooked in it. My meal was the Friday special. The lobster, and shrimp were over cooked and rubbery, the corn was smushy and rubber combined, the snow crab legs were cooked correctly, and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. My husband got the build your own. The green mussels and, crayfish were cooked correctly the scallops were rubbery, the corn again was horrible and the potatoes cooked just right. We absolutely loved the sauce and spices that were served with the meals, if they cooked all the food correctly this would be a great place to go for dinner. For birthdays they sing happy birthday and bring out a litttle lava cake...
My husband and I do not recommend this place for dinner, only for appetizers,...
