I have gone to this establishment in years prior and had overall good experiences by staff and enjoyed the food; however, that all changed Saturday July 5th. As we waited for our table (to seat 8), two of us went to the bar where we ordered and paid for drinks. We were seated shortly after where Madelyn introduced herself as our waitress. Right away, she questioned if we had closed the tab at the bar. I confirmed we had. Her facial expressions and tone became extremely rude. She seemed irritated and followed with asking if we were going to even eat food. I was appalled at her negative attitude. Her demeanor made everyone at the table feel irritated and uncomfortable. After dining was complete, I asked her to bring me the check. As she hands it to me, she explains that the establishment has rules on parties larger than 12 to automatically add gratuity. She went in to say that she disagrees with them doing that so didn’t have it added to our check, and had the audacity to say she “expects” me to leave her a tip. As I inspected my ticket I quickly saw that gratuity was already added. Although it was far more than I would have tipped for her terrible service, I decided to sign and leave to end this negative experience. As my party was walking away, Madelyn approached a family member who was further behind me. One person had left a cell phone, which she was returning (a nice deed) but followed with aggressively questioning my cousin, “are you seriously NOT leaving me a tip?!” My cousin, who didn’t even pay for the check, was shocked. She continued to badger my family member as to why no tip was given until it was pointed out to her that gratuity was included. She did apologize after this but had ruined a beautiful evening for my family. I can only hope that supervision will read this review and question Madelyn about her appropriate interactions with customers. After this experience, I hesitate to ever return to the tiki hut. Management needs to address such behaviors by staff or a business will quickly feel the impacts by locals and those traveling...
Read moreIn the heart of Dillon, Colorado, lies Pug Ryan's Tiki Bar, a place that promises tropical vibes and enjoyable moments. However, my recent visit to this establishment left me frustrated. Allow me to share my experience, albeit a cautionary tale.
When we arrived we were excited to unwind by the water. However, what followed was anything but relaxing. We found ourselves waiting for what felt like an eternity, with not even a glimmer of attention from the staff. It took FIFTEEN minutes before she even acknowledged we were there. The lack of prompt service was, to say the least, disheartening.
Then, after enduring fifteen minutes of neglect, we were approached by a lady whose unwelcoming attitude instantly dampened our spirits. Her words lacked any semblance of courtesy as she curtly asked, "Are you going to order something or what?" This brusque remark struck us as not only impolite but also indicative of the overall demeanor we encountered throughout our visit.
It is crucial to note that customer service plays a pivotal role in any establishment's success, and sadly, Pug Ryan's Tiki Bar fell woefully short in this aspect. The staff's dismissive and inhospitable behavior left us feeling unwelcome and unappreciated, casting a dark cloud over what should have been a pleasant outing.
Given my experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend Pug Ryan's Tiki Bar to anyone seeking a positive and enjoyable dining experience. The lack of attentiveness, coupled with the discourteous treatment we received, creates an atmosphere that fails to meet even the most basic expectations of customer service.
Overall, my encounter at Pug Ryan's Tiki Bar was far from satisfactory. I sincerely hope that the management takes note of these issues and implements necessary changes to provide a more pleasant experience for future visitors. Until then, I advise potential patrons to reconsider their choice and explore alternative options in Dillon, Colorado, where true hospitality and excellent service...
Read moreSo, I worked as a server, bartender, and restaurant manager for 20 years. This place has cornered the market at Dillon Marina, being the only full menu establishment that was open when I was there. They could totally "kill it" if they did it right. Alas, though, it was a travesty from the start, and I'm pretty forgiving after having worked in the industry for so long. Let me go down the list: It took 15 minutes for our server to take our drink order. I could see that she was busy, so I shrugged that off I ordered an appetizer; salsa, guac, and queso, but the food arrived first. I asked the food runner about the appetizer, and she said she would get it for us, which she did. Now onto the food, $19 for small shrimp po-boy with barely any shrimp in it, and the chips, that I thought would be homemade (for the price), but were just a small bag of Lays. The $13 appetizer I ordered consisted of 3 small ramekins of salsa, guac, queso, and was accompanied by stale chips. The cheesteak we ordered was small as well. Then it started raining, and we noticed that not only did our table umbrella not work, but a lot of the other table umbrellas had holes in them! Our server told us, "don't worry, this happens all the time, it will blow over!" I opted to cover our over-priced food, head for the cover of the wait station, paid my bill, and gtfo. -We had 1 Shrimp Po-Boy, 1 Cheesteak, 1 Rum Runner, and Chips with Salsa, Queso, and Guac, bill was $70... Something's fishy there...especially for the portions...
