Blue Matisse has been on my radar now for a long while and I'm so glad that I decided to go with two others while in the Doral area for lunch. Upon immediately arriving, the service was already spectacular as we were ushered to our table and given a thorough explanation of what the lunch buffet offered that day.
I went on a Tuesday which was "Tex-Mex" day but please do not be mistaken, the food was far from what most consider Tex-Mex! Their executive lunch buffet $21/pp is called "On the Fly" and offers a large variety of gourmet tapas/entrees of said cuisine. I cannot emphasize enough how fresh the salad bar, breads, and tapas were----plus it was all DELICIOUS! For the entrees there was a whole poached salmon with assorted fresh seafood atop, wonderful Mexican steak with potatoes, and a chicken fajita bar. The ceviche was also wonderful!
Our server was absolutely incredible and even grabbed the whole lobster, bringing it to the chef to specially prepare for my boyfriend who hesitated in grabbing it since it looked so beautiful! So YES, we ate a whole lobster with an incredible garlic butter sauce AND gorged out at the gourmet buffet for $21 dollars each!
This has most definitely become the only buffet in the South Florida area that I am a fan of and I can't wait to return on another day offering a different cuisine....like the Asian day in which I believe they serve duck! I recommend it highly to those that work in the area or those looking for a reliable place that will surely impress for a business...
Read moreMy fiancée and I came for dinner looking for innovative ‘Latin American’ cuisine not realizing it was a hotel restaurant. So, we tried it out anyway. It was the kind of hotel restaurant where they ask for your room number when you sit down, clearly not designed to cater to or impress folks living in the area. It was OK hotel food, but not great restaurant food. Everything we ordered tasted like it was frozen and/or canned and reheated. That works pretty well for fried things like chicken wings or batter fried seafood but not great for things like spare ribs that came on top of mashed potatoes in a gross can-like sauce. Worse, the dishes seemed to be designed by people who had never tried eating them. Buffalo chicken wings, for instance, don’t come with a dipping sauce. You can ask for it, they give it to you for free, but it doesn’t ‘come’ with it. Likewise, the fried calamari and mixed seafood is great, but only comes with a tiny bit of mayo-based sauce sprinkled on a few select pieces on top. Now, either you like the sauce and want to have it with more than 3 bites or you don’t and you eat around it…but what sort of diner would like the sauce but only want it on a few pieces of a big fried seafood platter? The other thing was that it was expensive. More than $100 for a frozen/canned dinner for two. This would be an OK dinner option if I was staying at the hotel and too exhausted after a flight to leave the hotel, but not a place I would take my...

I recently had a pleasure of staying in InterContinental IHG Hotel at Doral Miami and eating at their Blue Matisse Restaurant. Their menu offers a diverse selection of extraordinary dishes, with each of them deliver on taste and quality, making it quite easy for to decide as it is impossible to go wrong. The service was outstanding from the moment I arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming, starting with the welcoming smile of a young lady at the Restaurant's reception desk, and continuing with all of the servers. Each of them was knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful suggestions and checking in regularly without being intrusive. Special thanks to Mr. German for making sure each morning that my day would kick off in a good way. I really appreciated how efficiently he would manage every service and make for a pleasant and stress-free meal.
