Review of El Tropico Restaurant – 7930 NW 36th St, Doral, FL

I take great pleasure in writing positive reviews when service and quality align with expectations. Unfortunately, this experience did not merit one.

We placed a pickup order for two sandwiches from El Tropico Restaurant. Upon returning to our office and opening one of the boxes, we discovered that while the sandwich appeared properly assembled on top, both sides of the bread were severely burnt underneath—an issue clearly visible upon flipping it over.

This wasn’t a minor oversight. It felt like a deliberate choice, either assuming the customer wouldn’t notice until it was too late, or reflecting a lack of attention to detail. In either case, it’s unacceptable.

I drove back to the restaurant to return the sandwich and request a refund. The process was disorganized, and while the refund was eventually issued, the absence of a basic courtesy—no apology, no acknowledgment of the mistake—was the most disappointing part of the experience.

Mistakes happen. What defines a business is how it responds. A simple “we’re sorry” or “thank you for bringing this to our attention” would have gone a long way. Instead, the lack of accountability and customer care ensured that this will be our last visit.

Today my mother was not feeling good and I decided to buy a chicken soup at a latin restaurant. I google it and found this place. This was my first and for sure last visit. I ordered the chicken soup and a "Cordero Estofado" Stew Lamb for me. It was a to go order. Late at my mom's house I found out that they gave me two big pieces of boiled lamb shank. I wish I could post the picture. They had a light beige color and a little watery sauce on the bottom. The look was just disgusting and it tasted the same way. It was like eating boiled meat. When my mother saw it she offer me to cook two fried eggs and...

This is my first Cuban Sandwich.. We ordered the Cuban, 2 Tropicana, and a steak sandwich. Good but not great.. When I think of a Cuban Sandwich I think of the movie Chef with Jon Favour.

The fries where undercooked, and cold like cafeteria lunch room warm.

If you're local this is and option for sure. You will get a good sandwich.. But don't travel for this food nothing special here. Beer was ice cold came with lime. So that's a big plus.

Very clean bathrooms that says alot this is a clean place. But nothing that we ordered made me want to savor the moment. Or look forward to going back.

Good...

My husband and I are visiting from Atlanta. We walked over to El Tropico, from our hotel, and were immediately drawn in by the line of people standing at the take-out window. We dined in. We ordered Pallamillo Steak with Rice + Black Beans + Toasted Bread and the Cuban Medionoche Sandwich. Everything was freshly prepared and tasted fantastic...full of flavor. The prices were very reasonable and the service was courteous and punctual/attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant.
