Came to Miyako after years of not coming here because of how badly the restaurant had deteriorated. It always good, but never great. Then it just went down the toilet rapidly. I had heard from a friend that the restaurant was doing better and decided to give it another chance with the family. At first, the appetizers took an easy 30 mins to come out. The server was clearing plates that still had food on them and bottles of sake that still had sake in them. The server stated to me that there wasn’t much left. That set off the evening. As we began ordering our dinner, she began upselling at an obnoxious pace that made everyone feel uncomfortable. We asked for shishito peppers and she stated that she didn’t have any, so she aggressively tried recommended the rock shrimp which was by no means a replacement for peppers. Shortly afterwards, the peppers magically appeared out of nowhere. She stated that they were just delivered. From where? Lord knows. Then our food took no less than an hour to arrive. Meanwhile, we continually asked for refills in our sake and beer that constantly fell on deaf ears. I had to get up several times to get napkins and order more food/drinks because our server was nowhere to be found. When our food finally came and we ate, we then ordered dessert. The server brought out whatever she felt like bringing out and then charged us for items that were never brought out. We asked to speak to a manager when they replied that there wasn’t a manager on site and then he proceeded to offer us his note pad and a crayon to write a note that he would “relay” to the manager. At this point we were having an out of body experience as I could not cope with what was going on in this restaurant. We were then forced an 18% gratuity because our party was over 5 people when its was 3 adults and 3 kids and 2 of the kids did not eat. An absolute nightmare, 3rd world experience in this poor excuse for a restaurant. Avoid frustration and stay away from this establishment. What Miyako is doing is nothing short of robbing their customer. Never again, not even in a nightmare will I even drive...
Read moreVery surprisingly nice for a strip mall restaurant. Atmosphere was great nice decor with dim, romantic lighting. Service was good. Attentive server and host, I felt welcome. Most importantly, the food. I started wity the Tokyo sunrise yuzu cocktail. It was a little sweet for me, but that doesn’t make it bad, I just prefer less sweet. The second drink I tried to order was an old fashioned, which I was then informed they didn’t have any whiskey or bourbon, which I found strange from a restaurant with a “full bar”. I panic ordered a vodka coke and it was…a vodka with coke so no complaints.
Now the food. I had the steamed beef dumplings as well as the tuna tartare. The dumplings honestly were amazing. Steamed perfectly wity a lot of filling, and I loved the generous sprinkling of scallions. Also the spicy Mayo sauce it was served with is not something I would normally mix with dumplings but oh my was it so good. The tuna tartare was also pretty good with good quality ingredients. My only complaint with Thay is the ration of chip to tartare. I was loading it on the the chips AND ordered a second portion of chips and I still sent a quarter of it back when I was finished. Replating it with more chips would be a better value for money IMO.
Overall, Miyako provides a nice atmosphere, good service, and good food for a fair price. Definitely a solid choice for...
Read moreI have been officially blessed by the sushi gods to have such an incredible sushi restaurant less than 5 min away from my house.
I have ordered literally twice from here in this week alone (some may call it a borderline addiction, I call it love for good food) and every time my experience has been incredible. During these hard times they have maintained excellent customer service, speedy turnaround time in both pick up order and delivery, while still practicing and executing on every safety measure on the books.
If you're looking to satisfy any sushi or even fried rice cravings look no further because Miyako has you covered 1000% at a reasonable price.
I ended up ordering this time around a chicken fried rice(very well seasoned chicken) and a shrimp fried rice(with actual real juicy big shrimp). They serve moderately big portions where I found myself craving another bite but my stomach was borderline about to explode.
Their sushi is also very fresh and bring around 8-10 rolls depending on which dish you end up getting. They offer a bunch of specialty rolls that sound insanely good but I went with the traditional route and got a dragon roll(brings around 10 pieces, and sushi holds up nicely when you pick it up)
If you are in the Doral area check them out!
I will definitely be coming back soon...
Maybe tomorrow lol
