First time here. Went in the far side entrance; no one was there. It was after their apparent lunch rush. Waited a few minutes and a lady came out of a side room to the register, never even looked at us even though we were standing right at the counter. We waited to see if she would greet us and she never said a word. So while she did something at the register, after several seconds my husband asked were we in the right entrance and did we have to sign in since there was a clipboard and list on the counter, and there was no one in the dining room where we were at except for one couple. She said "No, you can seat yourself". We thought it very rude that she did not greet us when she came in to that area since she was less than 2 ft away from us while we stood there not knowing what to do. Please have someone at your front entrance to greet customers or if they have other duties, when they approach a customer then greet them and say something like "I'll be right with you"! At least acknowledge your customers. Not everyone has been here before and knows your routine. Our server, however was an experienced lady and she was very quick on her feet, told us of the special of the day, got our drinks very quickly, and put in our appetizer order right away. The food came out hot and fresh. We both got the special shrimp basket of the day. The coleslaw is excellent and the shrimp are very good, however the cheese grits are a little runny and need more salt to be added during the cooking because it's very hard to get grits to taste good if you haven't salted them while they are cooking. As for the atmosphere it's an older place so it's not fancy. The thing that bothered us the most though was we were sitting across from the kitchen entrance and the workers in the kitchen were cutting up and carrying on right near the door and one of them cursed out loud so that you could hear it in the dining room. These employees need more training as to customer service and protocol in a restaurant where people are trying to dine. We will be back but we will not want to sit in that area ever again. And hopefully, some of the employees will have more interest in the people that actually pay their salaries by visiting that...
Read moreWe had our son's rehearsal dinner at this restaurant last Saturday night and could not have been more pleased!! Meeting at Hunt's Seafood restaurant went along perfectly with the "fishing" theme planned for the groom's table at the wedding. The extra room (already decorated with a nautical theme) in the back of the restaurant provided the perfect private & intimate setting for our special guests and wedding party to have dinner. Sandy was amazing from the very beginning of the planning! Her experience and excellent advice was very helpful. She designed an appealing menu for the dinner including a kid's menu. She picked up balloons in the wedding colors and had them arranged on the tables with the personal menus, as well as picking up other items needed. She planned a perfect arrangement of the tables, including a display table for us to set up gifts, tubs for the champagne & sparkling cider. She provided a projector screen for our slide show. Sandy also worked well with me and kept in contact checking in along the way confirming plans. The staff had the room ready to go with the menus, pens, blown balloons, champagne glasses (I brought) set up on the tables. The staff was ready to go, doing all the work, and bringing out the dessert at just the right time, we had discussed earlier (being very nervous, I was able to trust them to handle it all). The staff was wonderful, patient, friendly, kind, organized, prepared, dependable, available, calm! The salad bar was very handy outside the room we were in. The food came out amazingly quick and was delicious! Even at the very end, they helped us carry items to our vehicles. I am so thankful we chose Hunt's Seafood to have our rehearsal dinner at. Thank you, Sandy, Wanda, and the rest of the staff for helping us to have a very special night for our son's...
Read moreWe came here to celebrate a family member's birthday. Being new to the area and a military family, this place came highly recommended and we couldn't wait to try it. The staff was friendly, short wait time on a Saturday night which was surprising, and the food was good overall. We ordered a filet mignon, a ribeye, a chicken sandwich, shrimp Alfredo, and a seafood platter. The ribeye was excellent and cooked to perfection, the filet mignon was a little underwhelming per the person whose birthday it was that ordered it, the chicken sandwich and seafood platter were well received and got two thumbs up, but the Alfredo left much to be desired. Instead of a nice creamy alfredo sauce, it was kind of dry and lumpy (maybe left under the warmer too long) so my daughter just ate the shrimp off of it and called it a day. Our server was attentive, drinks stayed filled, and our food came out in a timely fashion. We were seated at a larger table (party of 5) and there was an air vent overhead. At one point we realized that condensation from the vent was dripping on to the table, and had to move our food and drinks out of the way. While I wouldn't make the trip to Dothan again from the military base to eat here, it's a nice little place for those who are local and looking for a good seafood/steak dinner. I highly recommend the ribeye and seafood platter. Some updates to the building itself would do wonders. Just avoid any tables that are directly under air vents as the condensation from the summer humidity can put a damper on an otherwise...
