Mom's Kitchen — Restaurant in Dothan

I have seen this place advertised many times and never had the time to come. Finally, we decided to come here instead of waffle house. This is Dothans new waffle house. There was a wait time to get seated, but it was well worth the wait. Once seated the waitress came with friendly smile and took our drinks immediately! The wait time to get our food wasn't long at all, and the food tasted amazing. My wife raved over the biscuits. I'm not typically an omlette fan, but decided to have the Chorizo omlette and loved every bite of it!! We definitely will be returning, on a regular basis. This restaurant is the new Waffle house. Soon I will try their lunch selection and update my review.

With a name like Mom's Kitchen you expect the food to be really good. Nothing could be further from the truth. I ordered a special, smoked pork chop with two sides and waited 20 minutes to get my plate. The fried okra was so crisp it hurt my gums.They allowed me to have green beans instead and boy were they fresh...from a can. Today I decided to give them a second chance with something a little simpler, chili cheese dog and fries. The chili was basically watered down ketchup with some beans, no meat,no seasoning, just ketchup. The fries were overly cooked and crunchy. I've eaten a lot of chili and have had better in the county jail. The girl asked if I wanted to leave a tip on my card and I did since the server isn't to blame for the terrible food. The tip that I wanted to leave was "Fire the cook"....

Casual, quiet spot that keeps things simple. Came here for breakfast, plenty to choose from on the menu. Food was cooked to perfection.

Meal: Corned beef hash, 2 eggs, side of smoked sausage, orange juice. Black coffee to wake me up!

Time from walk in to order: 2 minutes

Ticket time: 35 minutes

Table service: Very friendly, unfortunately the coffee ran dry a couple times before being refreshed. Server informed us that the kitchen was behind.

Recommendation: Good place for a meal, it's cooked from scratch so it won't be fast. They probably don't scan ahead on their tickets in the kitchen, causing bottlenecks when it gets busy. I'd recommend going, the...
