Taqueria Y Mariscos El Torito — Restaurant in Dothan

Hands down the BEST mexican food in Dothan. I am no expert, but I've had street tacos from all across the west coast, and I know about the nixtalamization process, so I'm somewhat qualified to speak on this.

Dothan has a real special treat here. These tacos are quite possibly the best tacos in south Alabama. I haven't been to Mobile, so take my claim with scrutiny, but don't take my recommendation lightly.

All I've here are the street tacos. Stretchy masa tortillas confirm they are fresh. plenty of onions and cilantro, with perfectly charred and seasoned meat. Various sauces are given by default, incl a green avocado sauce. I believe the street tacos are served with sautéed onions and peppers.

They are not the cheapest street tacos, but being the only authentic place in town demands a higher price. The other offerings in the menu are similarly priced to other Mexican restaurants...

3/10 Food was horrible when waiter asked how was the food I gave my honest opinion that I did not like it she called the manager over and he told me that no food was nasty and I told him that it was my opinion that it was not good and he told the waiter to take me food and when my ticket came they had the wings still on there and I told her I was not about to pay for something that they took away without me being able to eat the manager came to the table and told me I had to pay it didn’t matter if I liked his food or not so I told him I was not about to pay for something he told his waiter to take away and he snatched the receipt and told me he was not dealing with this anymore and told me if I don’t like his food don’t eat it but I still have to pay for it. We saw this restaurant as it was under construction and watched the parking lot fill up after the grand opening. We were quite skeptical but finally decided to give it a try. We are not Mexican nor do we speak Spanish but we LOVE Mexican food and have had many different takes on it throughout the years, and from many different areas of the country.

This is a very authentic Mexican restaurant. With what seems to be a modern twist. Everything we put in our mouth was delicious.

Our only complaint is that I wish the menu was a tad more descriptive in some areas, but they are working on that.

The portions were great for the value. We are excited to go back.

Definitely give it a try. I do believe it is one of Dothan's new...
