Richie B's — Restaurant in Dothan

Often replicated, NEVER duplicated. My wife and I stepped into Richie B's yesterday for lunch. We were in line waiting to give our order, while doing so, we saw Richie step out into the dining area and make sure all his current guest were well taken care of. We quickly moved through the line that was started out the door and came up to one of the warmest welcomes I've ever received. Richie asked our name and what we would like, with the most sincerity Richie thanked us for our business and we proceeded to the dining room. We received our pepperoni pineapple pizza and Richie's Cheese Steak with Viper sauce. Both were absolutely worth the hype. Richie personally checked on us and later brought me some of the best marinera I've ever had and told me to dip my crust in it. I was flabbergasted bc that's how I love to eat my pizza. Since a child I've always dipped my crust. I didn't want to order all the extras the first time through , I wanted it the Richie B's way, it just so happen to be pepperoni rather ham and marinera for the crust must be Richies way. At this point I am sold . The atmosphere of Richie inviting us into his home and being the best Host on the planet to the perfect pizza crust , hands down the best cheese steak in Dothan, a red sauce I wish I had a jar of to topple on my house made meat balls and you cant forget the viper sauce are a few of every reason that me and my wife will drive an hour from marianna to eat pizza and cheese steak . After reading all the reviews, I had anticipated good food and probably having a standoff with the owner.

The food was pricey, but well worth it. I can spend $20+ at Mellowmushroom on one pizza, just as you can here, but you'll get more food for it at Richie B's. The pizza is authentic,- this comes from a guy that's moved around more times in the last 15 years then most people travel in a life-time (was a military brat in my youth).

We had the pizza and the house salad, both were fantastic and came in under 12mins (give or take a minute or two).

From the previous reviews I expected to have a run-in with the owner- quiet the opposite occurred. The owner was quick to welcome us, assist in order delivery and was very polite to the younger kid we had with us (even did a magic trick for him!). I can see how he might come off rude, if you read too much into what he's saying. Don't. If you read too much into it, and don't like what you're hearing, and choose not to go here solely because of it, you're doing yourself a great injustice.

All-in-all, the food was great, the service was great and the owner has character- what more could you ask for from an authentic, New Yorker and pizza joint?

As someone who greatly enjoys pizza, I was curious about this place when I moved to Dothan. However, a few rumors of "unfriendly service" kept me from trying it for a time, with some describing the owner as either unprofessional or simply intolerable. None of them remarked on the food itself.

First, the pizza served here is exceptionally good. I have not tried every pizzeria in Dothan, but the pizza served at this establishment is incredibly satisfying both in portion and in taste. When bought by the slice, it is a very filling, very tasty meal, and the presentation (with the tip folded over on the end) is delightful. My companion who dined with me also highly recommended the Philly Cheesesteak, though I have not tried it.

As to the service, I came away completely satisfied with both the attitudes of the staff and the efficiency of their work. The owner maintains an operation that is professional: he provides quality food at a fair price, maintains a satisfactory facility run by a professional staff.
