This is Chris, not Kerri. In over forty years of eating Hudson's, I have always enjoyed the great food, great service and it's been well worth the price. I've never been unhappy, or even slightly unsatisfied. Much less, this angry. Honestly, I may never go back! First, we called THIRTY FOUR TIMES form TWO DIFFERENT PHONES for TWO HOURS, trying to place a pick up order. The line was busy, every time. When I finally drove there to place the order, I told 2 different cashiers and another woman behind the counter about the issue. At first, they all claimed their phones were "working fine" and showed they only had 1 missed call. The woman in line behind me told them she had called "about 20 times and it was busy" and the woman behind her said she had "called about 5 or 6 times" with the same results. Then, as the cashiers story changed to "Maybe, there's a problem with the phone lines",... the phone rang. Had it been intentionally taken off the hook, maybe? Next, I tried to order 2 lemon fried pies..."We're out". OK. 2 blueberry fried pies..."We're out of those, too". How about 2 peach fried pies..."We have those". Then, while I'm waiting for my order, a guy comes and tells me "We're out of peach fried pies. Do you want apple?". I tell him "No" and, while I'm waiting for the current customer to finish their order, so I can have the cashier take the pies off my bill, the same guy comes back and says he found 2 peach fried pies. Also, the pies SUCKED! Bland, chewy "crust" and barely any filling, inside. Not worth the $2 each advertised on the website, much less the $4 each I was actually charged! And, finally, Since the original plan was to place a pick up order, I went to the Hudson's website for the menu and prices. After driving there and placing the same exact order that I had planned to call in, my bill was SEVENTEEN DOLLARS MORE than the total from their website. EVERY SINGLE price on their website was less than what I was actually charged, once I was there! Seems like the old "bait and switch" to me! I was very respectfully verbal about ALL of these issues, but not one employee offered to get a manager, offer a small discount or sweet tea for all the trouble, or even care. This was 2 weeks ago. I've contacted them through their FB page and website. No response. I seriously might not...
Read moreI just came from Hudson's. I placed an order for carry out, and chose to wait on the inside for it. Glad I did! I will never go back to this establishment, and I suggest anyone wanting to try it to order carry out, and watch how your food is prepared. My family has ordered here before, and the food tastes good. One thing I won't do is risk the health of my family for the sake of good tasting food though. After asking them to cook my steak to a medium as requested, and not the rare that was given, I stood there and watched. An employee then started to pick up the mats on the floor and shake them out. He then came over and picked up my plate to put my steak in it after handling the mats with the same gloves. His reply after being confronted by it was that he didn't touch the actual food (but his finger grabbed the inside where the steak went when he picked the tray up, and all over the outside). Just before that a customer sent back a hamburger steak that was supposed to be medium, also rare, and the same cook that initially cooked my steak to the rare came from moving things inside and proceeded to pick up the customers half eaten hamburger steak. He poked at it insisting that it was medium, and then put it back on the flat top. Never once did he change his gloves. When I requested my money back for the steak meal, the lady at the register handed me $15. I told her that the steak was $16 plus tax. She then told me that they don't give tax back, and that on her computer it says $15. At this point I had seen enough, and just requested the full reimbursement for the meal. I have worked in food service before, and I can not tell you how many health violations I witnessed. I normally don't write reviews, but the fact that I had to argue with them after their wrongdoing is...
Read moreHudon's has two doors for entry. One door for sit-down service and the second door for takeout or delivery. You can see by the crowded parking lot, and their business is booming!
I have never had more than one person in front of me to place my order. The first person you meet takes your order and your money. She is always smiling and welcoming.
Although Hudson's has a very large number of items to serve us, I usually get the same order each time. Why mess with perfection, right?!
Hudson cooks all of their meats on site. I believe they opened their doors mid 1970's and the people that eat there once will, like me, return for more.
My order is usually the pork plate with delicious chopped pork BBQ and a bun with a large fresh cut serving of french fries.
I add a peach fried pie and a large half and half tea (half sweet and half unsweet).
Like most Georgians, I went from milk bottles to drinking tea. Everyone will tell you they are very picky about their tea. So if you get the sweet or unsweetened, you are getting everyone's favorite!
Now to another major reason to go to Hudson's... they have the most delicious and fresh made fried pies. I personally have tried apple and peach. It really is hard to decide which one to get. I admit that for me, the peach pie can not be beat!
If you are going to Hudson's for the first time, you really should check out the kitchen. There are many cooks and servers moving around one of the cleanest kitchens you will ever see. It reminded me of my daddy's behives! Everyone knowing their jobs and everyone working toward one goal. To feed us the best BBQ.
Please go visit them! Don't forget to come tell me how you felt about the food and service.
If I could give more stars, Hudson' BBQ...
