I really don’t know where to begin with this place. This has to be one of the most bizarre restaurants I’ve ever eaten in.
For starters, we went for lunch midday on a wednesday, so the place was pretty quiet. The waiter there, who was lovely and attentive the whole time, greeted us when we walked in and told us to sit anywhere we like. The interior of this place is downright weird. There was a bizarre mix of table sizes, shapes, and furniture throughout the dining room. Each table had a random mix of regular dining chairs and couches, which meant if you were sitting in a chair you would be looking down at your table mates and which made an awkward position to eat from. Each table had a tacky gold painted base and a plastic-y faux marble tabletop. A faux-marble bar wrapped around the whole restaurant. It all felt very cheap and tacky.
The service again was excellent, but we did come at a quiet time.
Now the food. The first thing that struck me was that the sushi was expensive. $18 a roll is the cheapest you can find. Now it’s half off during lunch so it’s much more reasonable, but still if you come for dinner you are dropping $36 minimum on sushi. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll. Where I come from in New York, the word “crunchy” usually indicates the roll has masago arare (a small wheat cracker) or tobikos (mini fish eggs) on the outside. So imagine my surprise when i was served a DEEP FRIED ROLL of sushi. Maybe this is a New England thing, but i have quite literally never seen a whole roll of sushi deep fried before. Yes I’ve seen tempura, but never the rice itself dunked in the frier.
The non-fried sushi roll wasn’t great. The rice was cold and underseasoned, as if it had been in the fridge for an hour, the nori wasn’t crispy, the fish was bland and also really cold for some reason. I would absolutely not pay $18 for 8 pieces. The fried sushi roll on the other hand was obviously bad. It was greasy, the fish was hot, the batter did not mix well with the tuna, the spicy mayo was overpowering. It really felt like I was eating fried spicy tuna, and it was an overall miserable experience. The soy sauce for my sushi was also served in a teacup, which was an interesting choice.
My friends got the sliders, which were again not great. The bread was dry, the meat was underseasoned and overcooked, and it was really subpar for the price tag. The only decent thing I would say we had were the haddock sliders, which were solid.
Im sorry to say this wasn’t very good, especially considering the waiter was so friendly and attentive. But the quality of food for the price you pay is frankly unjustifiable and so unfortunately I must advise you stay away. And if you do come here, for the love of god please don’t order deep fried sushi rolls. It’s a match that’s just not...

Read moreValentines Day, but thankfully this was a last minute decision to eat out and not a highly anticipated date night. Service was so slow we considered leaving- it was 45 minutes until our appetizer arrived, which was literally about 1 minute before our entrees arrived. Our guess is that everything sat under heat lamps for some reason, as the gyoza was overcooked and arugula garnish unappealing and wilted. We ordered well-water soda water, which we didn’t realize until the check came would cost us $5. Each.
My meal was very tasty if not spectacular - carbonara with lots of cheesiness, hunks of bacon or pork or something. My husband decided to try the chicken and waffles, which looked like an appetizer when it came, but was the same price as my ample serving of pasta. He got overdone, small chicken nuggets on a soggy waffle with hot fruit. And then helped me finish my pasta.
The atmosphere is very hip, beautifully decorated, a fireplace, comfy chairs and sofas, coffee table books everywhere, a beautiful bar, attractive waitstaff… The sushi looked good, as did the extensive cocktail menu. So maybe we (and the couple next to us who got comped a drink due to slow service) just got them on an off night, and maybe we shouldn’t have ordered the waffle, but the service was bad, food inconsistent and...
