California Fish Grill — Restaurant in Downey

The clam chowder was extremely watery save your money. We ordered a large and were amazed at the small amount they served and we were told they would not provide us with any more that was the portion.The kale slaw was without dressing and they would not provide us with any moredressing. This was not my 1st time there I really want to like this place. I ordered beans as a side and they 2 were very watery,and they weren't on the plate we had to go backup front to get them. It makes me wonder how much do they water things down. The salsa bar has also been removed. Maybe they are trying to stretch things. I was there the day before with my daughter we had the Hawaiian trio it was pretty good the coconut shrimp not worth it and the riced callaflower definitely not worth the extra charge. I do like their street corn I think that's killer. The shrimp and the butterfly shrimp were both pretty good I don't want to completely condemn them but yeah I think they owe us some money back. Seems like they are not making enough money for somebody to serve...

Went there with my family on 5-9-18. Orderd a salmon salad for my daughter. Luckily she is a light eater. After eating a 1/2 of the plate she decided to take the rest home. She most of it in a togo box and left a little on the plate. Now, I’m sitting across from her with my back to the kitchen staff. I then noticed something moving on her plate from the corner of my eye. It was a half dead, Huge Roach! I let the wait staff know immediately. They took the plate and said the manager was coming. Now remember my back was to the kitchen. It took a while for the manager to come. When she did, she refunded our meal. We left right after. Once in the car on the way home my daughter informs me that the reason the manager took so long is everyone was too busy laughing in the kitchen. A lot of the staff walked by to see who it was. It was so humiliating to her. So unprofessional to the whole staff. Here I was trying to not make a big deal because we WERE regulars and never had any problem before. This is my second visit to this location, (I normally go to the cerritos location) it was 20 mins before closing, I ordered the Salmon and Swai combo, a few other items too. The manager was kind enough to give me a sample of the kale tabouli. After receiving my order I noticed the swai was raw, I address the issue and was told a fresh one would be cooked. I noticed that the chef place the new plate of swai on the counter, the staff members didn't notice cause they were too busy laughing, joking and deciding which cake they should cut, while my fish got cold, after about 5-10 mins a employee noticed the fish was ready and asked someone to bring it to me. When I addressed my concern with the employee who came to bring me my fish his response was " oh yeah, want to talk to my manager"... Where is The customer service!!! There was no apology, nothing but a " I'll get you a bag and a box. If there are customers in the store after closing a level of professionalism...
