I’m going to give a step by step account of what happened, without much opinionated input
I came in here 15 minutes late for a GrubHub-Delivery order pick-up. Meaning, I was 15 minutes late past the expected pick-up time quoted in the app.
What this means for me as a driver is, I know the food was prepared already before I even arrived. I know this, because all of these restaurants prioritize delivery app orders. There’s a designated line, usually a designated shelf. Here at the Popeyes, everything is behind the cashier-counter.
Anyways, here’s where it starts: I come in knowing my order should be ready. I have to wait about 2 minutes until I can ask somebody who was clearly rushing me and those in front of me, if they have an order for Vanessa, but it went like this: “Hi, I’m here to pick up a GrubHub order for Vanessa,” I said with my phone in hand. She told me very quickly that “I’m working on those orders right now,”
I saw behind her on the shelf, 3 bags with very clearly printed names on the receipt labels…they were obviously delivery orders, is what I’m telling you. I knew one of them had to be mine, but I couldn’t figure out which, because I couldn’t make out the names from where I was standing. Trust me, there’s a lot of guess work, but what narrowed it down ultimately was looking at the order on my phone. I saw it was only one food item, and one beverage. A chicken sandwich and a lemonade. On GrubHub, it said it would be ready for pick up at 7:59 PM. I had walked in at about 8:20. Like I said, I was noticeably late. I knew that, and the delivery app administrators knew that, so please, don’t stray away from the main issue
At this point, I can see three bags that are just sitting there on the shelf where delivery orders normally sit. But of course, because this person was being hasty, they didn’t even bother to check the already 3 prepared bags they had sitting on the shelf, making a quick and easy 1 minute exchange turn into a 10 minute wait.
After that, I was playing a guessing game of whether or not Vanessa’s order was in one of those bags. Like I said, she only had two things. I saw one really small bag, so I tried to take another approach. I then got back in the same line I had just gotten out of, which had 4 people in front of me. Waited another 5 minutes. Got up to the cashier with a different employee this time, thankfully. I simply told her the same info, and without hesitation the lady from before chimed in to try to cut her off before she could speak.
At that point, I had enough, so I politely showed her my phone again and showed her where it says “7:59 pickup” then explained that it’s probably one of those bags on the shelf. Believe me or not, she went to the shelf, took ONE LOOK at the smallest bag, and instantly grabbed it. That was the bag for Vanessa. The whole time it was just sitting there, and because one other person was initially being hasty, the process was exacerbated by 10 minutes.
I did not get angry or snappy or rude in any way. I assure you I was calm the entire time.
But I threw in one subtle remark, to the nicer lady who actually had the sense to check the bags, unlike the person before. All I said was, “thank you, I appreciate that. I tried to ask for the same order before, and they just didn’t check the shelf.” Before she could even say anything, the young man behind her snapped at me and said “you see us busy working here don’t you?” Then uttered some other stuff that I couldn’t hear over the general noise of everyone talking at once. I didn’t take major offense to it, but I could tell he was very upset, and the way he Verbally lashed out at me was uncalled for. So much so, that the mid aged mother behind me overheard his tone, and actually spoke up for me. She said, “you can’t argue with the customer! What’s wrong with you” Then, even the first employee who didn’t see the bag (this was the first woman employee, not the young man), even started telling the young man to settle down.
……….all this, and I was just there for a...
Read moreHorrible drive thru service to start with. Waited 25 minutes at drive thru with only 3 other cars in front of me. 2. Order, & paying attention to what exactly people order. First there was a 4 inch long hair in my chicken basket, than found a French fries in my Mac and cheese. Than I asked for a 16 piece order, was told it came with two sides, & not 3,than after fighting with the employee over the Mike I happen to be correct, & was not even given an apologie. To top it off they gave me drums, & thies, & noticed it when I got to work. So i called spoke to a MANAGER that can barley speak English, was told to come by whenever I can with food, & recipe. I did so a week later, with food, & recipe ,& was told today that it can only be exchanged the day of, & not a week later. I don't live on that side of town!!! I love 37 miles away from your store!!!!!! I will be calling corporate first thing Thursday morning!!! To top it off management did not have or know corporates number. Than told me he is the assistant general manager, & does not understand why is lower MANAGER told me to come get the food after I drove out of my way, 37.4 miles away with $4 toll one way. Do not, & i repeat do not go to this store. If i can give 0...
Read moreThe manager I spoke to at 6:36pm December 29 (a man) was completely rude to me. Cutting me off when I’m speaking.
We’re on our way home from vacation. I ordered a chicken bacon cheese sandwich with bbq sauce. They didn’t add the bbq sauce, messed up my drink which I didn’t complain abt, and left my husbands meal off completely.
When he went back in they dismissively waved him off and said we don’t put bbq on sandwiches. Didn’t even hand him a bbq dipping sauce, so he had to go back in and wait in line again just to get a bbq sauce packet. I called to talk to the manager and I remained calm the entire time. He was cutting me off and using a very aggressive tone. As a woman, that’s completely and utterly disrespectful for a grown man to speak to any woman that way especially a paying customer who spent $60 over bbq sauce.
I do not want him fired or anything. I’ve worked retail, I get it but I am stressed too. I have an 8 hour drive with cranky children. He’ll get off work and be in his bed before we do so he needs to understand he cannot speak to people that way. but he should not be in charge of customer complaints. I’m so glad it wasn’t on speaker bc for my boys to hear that. Absolutely...
