Lockbusters should go out of business like Blockbusters.
Typical International Drive Poor Experience!!!!!!! This is not an escape room. It’s more like solving puzzles to low quality audio books in dirty rooms with low quality staff.
Visited this location over the weekend. The staff didn’t answer the phone on multiple attempts when we needed to ask questions about the experience. The place was a ghost town as we waited for over 5 minutes for someone to some to the front desk to help us get checked in for our reserved time. This is NOT an escape room! You can hear the toilets flush depending on which room you’re in because the bathrooms are nearby. You are merely solving puzzles for an hour or so to a sub-par storyline. The entry/exit door to our room was opened a couple of times by others at the location who were curious about our room so it detracted from the experience. During one of the storyline videos, the audio stopped and started again and we had to try and figure it out on our on as we had no way to restart the video. Parts of the experience that intended to trigger the next phase didn’t work as designed and required intervention by the staff onsite. At the end of the experience we waited aloft a few minutes to see if the staff would enter to transition us out but soon discovered that they weren’t coming so we left. This place is a tourist trap. The props in the room were dirty. Some even sticky which is rather concerning from a Public Health perspective.
You won’t have to sign a waiver as you’re not assuming any risks so this is a good option for younger children some cases. We live locally and wanted something to do on a slow afternoon. Likely should have chosen another option.
Pro tip: There staff should spend more time off their cell phones and attentive to customers. Also please don’t allow others to enter the room who are not with the party. Also update your technology and props. Perhaps...
Read moreWe recently visited LockBusters Escape Room and had an overall great experience! The rooms were challenging, but very well designed. We tackled two rooms: Jack the Ripper and Bank Heist.
Room 1: Jack the Ripper • Difficulty: 10/10
• Pros: The room’s design was spot-on for the theme! It was creepy, but super fun.
• Cons: This room lacked clear direction, and the directional locks were particularly tricky. We even had to ask for a clue, only to find out we’d had the correct combination—the lock just wasn’t functioning properly. Fortunately, the game masters were fantastic and compensated our time for the lock issue.
Room 2: Bank Heist • Difficulty: 8/10
• Pros: Another well-decorated room with lots of attention to detail, adding to the excitement.
• Cons: Similar to the first room, we encountered trouble with the directional locks. However, once again, the incredible game masters adjusted our time and ensured we could enjoy the experience to the fullest.
Our Overall Experience: The team at LockBusters was top-notch—friendly, helpful, and genuinely invested in our experience. We also loved supporting a locally-owned business and appreciated the “Mom and Pop” charm. With nearly 100 escape rooms under our belts, we’d confidently rate LockBusters a solid 8/10.
We also want to note that the rooms at this location are unique and unlike any rooms you’d find at a mainstream franchise. This locally-owned business delivers a completely different experience, yet every bit as elaborate and immersive as those bigger names. They do not cut any corners—the rooms are very well crafted and highly detailed. I think this goes to prove that you don’t have to be a franchise to create an unforgettable experience. We’re excited to return...
Read moreAs someone who has successfully completed 7 escape rooms with just two players, this was by far the worst-designed one I’ve experienced. There was absolutely no logical flow or real problem-solving—just a series of disconnected tasks.
The clue system was incredibly frustrating. Every player in the room has to physically wave both arms at a camera to request help—there’s no button or verbal option. Even then, our game master didn’t notice us for about three minutes each time. It was clear they weren’t actively monitoring us. At one point, they gave us a clue for a puzzle we didn’t even have the object for, then changed directions mid-sentence when they realized their mistake.
One of the mechanics to open the door to the next room wasn’t working properly. After standing there for several seconds doing nothing, the light next to the door randomly turned green, indicating it had unlocked. No feedback, no confirmation—just delayed and buggy.
We also got stuck on one of the arrow-pattern locks 8–10 minutes before time ran out. Even after entering the correct code multiple times, it still wouldn’t open. After the game ended, it took 5–6 minutes for anyone to come into the room, and even then, they had to physically yank it open.
Also, the only visible timer was in the first room, leaving us guessing how much time we had during the rest of the game.
Overall, this escape room felt disorganized and carelessly run. It lacked challenge, immersion, and basic responsiveness. Definitely not worth the...
