Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Dr. Phillips

So google lists this location as closing at 11, which CLEARLY the workers here don’t agree with. I arrived to the drive thru at 10:05pm last night to find about 7 cars in the drive thru lane, but I’m not in a rush, so i join the drive thru, and im the last car that pulled in front of the cone they placed to stop more cars from joining the line….at 10:05…. Of course i read the reviews and ive gone here before but hey i have time to kill and madness doesn’t phase me. it’s down the street from my apt, and it’s supposedly open late...or so it says. The employees here do not want to work. Just standing around outside an hour before closing time to make sure people don’t join the drive-through line and block the doors with people that don’t work there guarding the door inside. AND TURNING OFF THE LIGHTS 😂 no joke, i was there for it real time. If you’re actually uniformed employees are just going to be standing around outside, be productive about it and get a pen and paper and start taking some orders or something!! I’m writing this at 10:14 PM June 25, 2023. Many cars left the drive thru, some cars did pull forward so it’s my turn to order, i hear nothing from the speaker..wait a good 5 mins while the workers are still standing around outside just smoking watching us KNOWING that they’re not taking any more orders and just watching us wait for nothing. The woman worker with the shaved sides of her head and facial piercings is the worst one. She was the first to come outside and just stand around watching all the cars. She stood there since i was the 5th car in line to the speaker, until i pulled up to the speaker, and she was still there when i left. But I’ve gone here before so ive seen her before but that time I ordered i went inside and NO ONE else was in line but she was too busy behind the counter talking to another employee on my side of the counter so i was IN HER LINE OF VISION. She was choosing to ignore me until 5 mins go by and the other worker next to her slams her hand down repeatedly to the get the workers attention and points to me for the lady to take my order. This is the worst location in Orlando by far which is a huge let down because of the anticipation of this location opening. All i have to say is workers, if you hate your job and don’t want to do it, take that up with you and the decisions you make, now gimme my spicy chicken sandwich with 2...

I’m leaving this review strictly based upon the customer service that I received on Friday, March 29, 2024 from Tavares and Shamoya.

Upon arrival the drive thru speaker announced that drive thru was closed and that all orders were being taken inside. My mother and I drove to a parking spot, parked the car and went inside. Once we walked in we saw the very slim and short staffed crew working tirelessly to get everyone’s order completed. By the time we made it to the register, the front counter employee apologized to us about the wait and stated they had been there since this morning and were supposed to be off hours ago but the evening crew had not shown up yet NOT EVEN The EVENING MANAGER! My mother and I felt so very bad for them and could tell the workers simply just wanted to go home but didn’t want to leave the guest unattended to. Everyone completely understood the situation and we all made sure to give them the courtesy and respect they deserved making sure not to complain about the wait times. The two employees that stood out to me the most were Tavares (front counter/drive thru worker) and Shamoya (front counter worker)..they had both been there since that morning at opening and it was now in the even for dinner rush. Neither one of them wanted to leave the other so they both just stayed and worked together despite their feet hurting, despite not having a proper break, despite being tired and simply wanting to go home to be with their individual families. That really speaks volumes about their character. I hope these two get a raise and I will be escalating to corporate on their behalf because those are not proper working conditions for anyone to be enduring in this day and age. It is so hard to find good help these days and they are proof of great workers who simply did not have the help they needed to sufficiently do their jobs. I commend the entire crew that worked this day and hope everyone is compassionated well. They all did a fantastic job and my food was still served hot and fresh...

ELEVATED SERVICE

Don't let the title fool you, there is nothing high end about the service you will receive at this location; however, you will receive order takers that are high, extremely high. I don't frequent fast food establishments, but I have been waiting for this location to open for a year, as many of us have, so I took a shot in the dark and tried it out. What a mistake. I came through the drive thru to order for myself and children and was greeted by someone who at first sounded pleasant however after starting to order realized that the employee was never going to be able to comprehend what I was asking for due to whatever substance they were currently using. I asked multiple times for the order to be read back and every time they were wrong. It's was only 3 meals. Simple, no substitutions. After several failed attempts at getting the order correct I proceeded to the window in hopes in was just an issue with the speaker. That is when I saw first hand it wasn't an issue with the speaker but an issue with the employee being unable to comprehend anything I was saying to them. I was not the only car that unfortunately went through the same issue. This should not be allowed in any working job, especially when serving the public. Thankfully another pleasant gentleman was able to take over and help get the order out. Don't waste your time coming to this location, go to any...
