Updated review Sad to have to edit my original review but nevertheless, I'm choosing to keep it a 5 star only because I'm believing lastnight's service with waiter Irvin ( I think his name is) may have been a fluke. I am a single mom and took my kids to a more expensive dinner choosing Toscano for Italian food. It's at the higher end but I wanted to do something nice for them as we were having a special family day. Well unfortunately it was the WORSE service I have ever recieved in my life. In the beginning I asked for lemon in my water and I did not get it which is fine. Then Irvin brought us our food and did not ask if we wanted parmesan cheese that is usually offered to be shaved over our meal at the time that they bring it. Which that too was fine. But then I had to hunt him down for a refill on my son's drink. My daughter and I were low on our waters and then became out of water while he was getting my son's sprite. So I had placed she and I's empty cups near the end of our table so he could visibly see we were out and in need of a refill when he brought my son's sprite. Well he quickly slipped my son's refill on the table, it was so fast that I didn't even see him. This left my daughter and I without anything to drink for half of our meal. Very thirsty, I then flagged down another employee which she was kind enough to fill our water cups. As we were finished with our dinner waiting for Irvin to come to our table to bring our bill because we had been sitting there for awhile, he and I caught eyes but he never acknowledged coming to the table. Usually eye contact with a customer is good indication that the waiter is needed. In fact, he never even came one time to our table to ask if there was anything we needed, the WHOLE TIME we were there and we were seated in a clearly visible place. Finally he came to our table and gave me my check that's when I kindly let him know how dissapointed I was with his neglectful service to us. He apologized and said he had been busy waiting on another table. That certainly wasn't fair to us as usually a restaurant like this comes with very good service. I honestly believe he simply didnt care as the other table was more important for whatever reasons. I really hope management talks to Irvin about this and they come up with a future plan of action for him when he doesn't have time to help wait more than one table at a time because it was unacceptable. I am definitely not one to complain over every little tedious thing but the service I had experienced lastnight was absolutely not right. Perhaps ask another employee for help as there were others that seemed to have the time and I'm sure would have assisted. Extremely dissapointing.
(Original review) Visited for the first time and the very best Italian food I have ever eaten in my entire life. The prices are very reasonable especially for the amount of food given. The Servers are friendly and the environment was pleasant. Definitely my family and I's to go place for...
Read moreI wish I could give this restaurant a 5 star review because the food really was so so good. But the service and some of the “rules” of the place were so not customer friendly that honestly if it weren’t for the great meal I just had, I’d give a 1.
So here are the details of what you might experience going to Toscano. The pros: -Our food was all really good! I got the steelhead salmon special and was super impressed at the flavors it included! My husband got the carbonara with chicken and loved it and the kids got fettuccine alfredo and it was excellent. -The food came out relatively fast -They had high chairs and booster seats for kids -The children's menu was cheap but came with a large amount of pasta for $5. It was just as many noodles as what my husband ordered for his own meal. -The atmosphere is cute and welcoming. We sat in the patio area, but it’s covered and has heaters so it was very comfortable on a cold night.
The cons: -When we walked in the host was just looking at her phone and didn’t even look up. I finally had to get her attention to ask where we could find our party. -The server was not friendly in anyway and seemed suuuuuuper annoyed the entire time. -We had 2 small children with us and asked for kids water cups (to avoid glass cups that were already on the table from being spilled or broken). He just came and handed me empty styrofoam cups with lids. I had to transfer the water from other glasses to those vs him just bringing cups with water in them. This was honestly so bizarre to me because never in any restaurant ever has that happened to me, they usually will just bring you cups with the drink actually in it instead of making me find water to put in them. -They are NOT accommodating for bigger parties (6+) when it comes to splitting a bill, and add a 20% tip to bills with more than 6 people. Which I understand, but also it seemed like the server knew he would get a decent tip regardless of his level of service so he didn’t actually do much to earn a decent tip. -They seemed like they were in such a rush to get us to leave they didn’t even ask if we wanted dessert and just brought the bill. Normally I wouldn’t mind EXCEPT we were there for my mothers birthday and wanted to at least order her something to have while we would sing her Happy Birthday (as they do not do anything extra for special occasions). But that was not an option sadly. We couldn’t bring balloons in. We couldn’t bring in a treat for her because otherwise they would charge us $2/person to do it. It honestly made me never want to go there again, because the rules are just so stark and crusty.
All in all, I would only go back here if it were just like 2 or 4 people and if they could somehow get some training on better...
Read moreWe have dined at Tucsano’s and Garage Grill on many occasions. We often choose Tuscano’s as a place to celebrate various family events/milestones. Tonight was a special evening for our family and we once again chose your establishment. However, tonight’s experience will likely have us rethinking our choice for the next special dinner out.
We had a reservation for 12 for 6:30. When I made the reservation I was never informed that there was not separate check options for a large party. We were only asking for two separate checks. I understand that multiple checks can make things difficult, but two checks doesn’t seem like a burden. The burden was on us, spending time calculating the amount owed and Venmo around the table.
We began ordering our meals. With each order placed the waiter asked soup or salad? Never once was it mentioned that was extra !! In all of my experiences dining out the proper statement would be “would you like to ADD a soup or salad” therefore indicating an additional charge. Having not experienced a salad being offered before, my daughter asked “is this include”. The waiters response was “we do it for larger parties”. My daughter asked again if it was included. He responded with “it’s not free” .. no clear understanding of cost. My daughter declined the salad, but others at the table (new to your restaurant) that did not ask, assumed it was included based on the waiters remarks. He was clearly trying to inflate the bill as much as possible! We ultimately had $42 worth of salads added to the bill we did not need. We also were charged a splitting fee that was never disclosed!! And completely unnecessary.
If this if how you train your staff, it’s very unethical!! Clearly you won’t split checks to inflate and include gratuity. You offered poor service since gratuity was already included. It is very under minded offering soup and salad to inflate the bill.
The waiter seemed to know exactly what he was doing getting the bill higher than expected, and seemed cocky about it.
The bill was over $500 !! And the experience was not worth that. I will take my money elsewhere to an honest...
