El Canton De La Patrona — Restaurant in Duarte

So I went to this restaurant for Brunch with a few friends recently, and the experience was kind of a mixed bag. They told us the wait was gonna be 90 minutes, which sounded bad, but we waited and got seated in like 45 minutes, so that was nice. While we waited, we figured we’d grab some drinks at the bar, that was a struggle and we were unsuccessful. The bartenders were barely around, and we were just sitting there, empty-handed, looking confused, and no one even glanced our way or offered service. It was very frustrating.

Once we finally got a table, things didn’t really get much better. No one offered us water or napkins—we had to flag someone down for drinks and ended up grabbing napkins from the bar ourselves. The food, though, wasn’t bad. The options were kinda limited, but what they had tasted good. The price was more than reasonable. Problem was, a lot of the dishes were sitting out for way too long. Stuff that’s supposed to be cold, like the ceviche, aquachilies and fresh fruit, was warm by the time we got to it. Not exactly appetizing. Also, some dishes sat empty for some time. We heard good reviews about the tortillas. Unfortunately, by the time they reached us, we no longer had any use for them.

Overall, it was just… meh. Nothing special, nothing worth raving about. We went because we saw it hyped up on a TikTok and YouTube, but honestly, it didn’t live up to the buzz. I was pretty disappointed, and so were my friends. Hope they figure out how to improve and properly staff the business, cause right now, it’s not...

I've been here 3 times and have tried different meals each time. The food is not bad, but it lacks that wholesome feeling when eating a great Mexican meal.

I can't find a justification for the quality of the food for the price. The rice and beans have been very inconsistent. One time there was a lot of - what tasted like- cumin, in the rice. You have to measure your ingredients and keep that recipe. Also, the beans have been very salty or not enough from time to time. Again, no consistency.

I love the ambiance and environment, because it's fresh and clean. The interior design really makes it feel bright and upbeat. Compared to a dark bar for games, I would prefer coming here.

The servers have all been amazing. Very attentive and friendly.

Wife & I chose to give the new place a try, especially since we try to give our support to the locals.

I had the chiquiles and wife.ordered the huevos ranchero's. Food was fresh, nothing bad about them.

The bummer was the food needed a little more seasoning to elevate it above underwhelming. The presentation was just ok and par for the course.

The service was just okay. I'm a big coffee drinker and they never refilled it during our visit.

We don't have anything bad to say. As locals that eat out 2-3 days per week, we may come back in a few months to see if they've worked out the kinks.

Please note, there is a bar extending the length of the restaurant at the east wall. This long with the bar style decor is a good indication they are targeting after hours and drinking...
