Good. But they have areas to work on...all Cafes have these issues. Tabke was dirty (greek for table?) stare down by busy owner. Intimidating.burnt out. No welcome to Athens. Was able to take any tabke. Good amount if staff. Fast service. Hamburger special. But single patty was commercially thin but not a sbad as fast food. Atleast wendys is fresh ground chuck shaped. I can imagine how they can even make profit. Must be tough. Owner learned to speak spanish (and greek) which is awesome so his cook crew understands what and how things need to be done. Bun lettuce & tomatoes were Great. Zucchini is AWESOME it is NOT greasy nor commercially made. True elongated strips not slices not chips or twigs. Best thing there really. Coffee cup was used already lost a star. She didnt see the two coffee stains on the white mug up by where you put hour MOUTH! I paid but did NOT drink She was fast checked on me and other gentleman delivered my food. Owner was hands on and actually at the grill (not real-commercial flat top like mc donalds and most cafes have. You can order breakfast! Their long day starts long before when they open at 0700. Was able to order my plate came with drink. Before 1030...plus. Wipe ALL the tables please. Yeah i am tough when it comes to food safety. I am sick and tired of food poisoning at eating establishments where i spend my paycheck. They have been a central Dublin staple for decades. ..right on the Old lincoln highway before it turned to 580. They have NOT been there that long. Even the Sheriffs Deputies eat here. Decent menu. They try to cater to most. Top meals are 12.99 at time of writ. Advertised đ is 7.99 plus. I went prior to busy lunch. Wipe bleach on the walls below the tables and window sills. No flies here! Not even fruit flies in my hour on a colder Dublin day. Be sure and give the coffee and zucchini a try. Really good. Had ranch to accompany. No offer for a tazziki sauce instead. I know its hard to live and work all day in at work but don't let your attitude that helps pay your bare minimum income bite...
Read moreWas running errands with my new fiancée, and we got hungry. Decided to grab something no frills for dinner and happened across Athens. I had seen this place before but never stopped by. I saw all the glowing reviews so we figured it was worth trying. I'm glad we did because the food was excellent!
I got a bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries, and my fiancée got their fish sandwich. The bacon cheeseburger was fresh off the grill and had that smoky charbroiled smell that I love. The fries were hot and crisp, and the chilli was phenomenal. I added a nice drizzling of yellow mustard for extra goodness. The fish sandwich was hot and fresh, and the homemade tartar sauce was a nice touch, according to the fiancée. The guy who took our order says it was a best seller and I believe it. She also got sweet potato fries which were hot and crisp; sometimes it's hard to get them not soggy.
Overall we both thoroughly enjoyed our food, and would definitely come back. Other pluses include great parking, abundant seating, and a huge menu.
Only downside was the price; $40 for two sandwiches, two sides, and two drinks. Inflation hitting everyone hard. The food was...
Read moreMust Try the Food! If you haven't tried food at Athens, you definitely should. I have tried several items from their menu, and I tend to go back for my favorites. Ironically I tried a gyro and didn't care for it as much as their burgers, which are plentiful and full of flavor. Their sides are enormous, so you definitely get your money's worth. They have a diner-like environment which is dated, but clean. Athens has a second side to it when the main dining area gets full or if you want to rent the side room for a large private party. I inquired about the private party and I was a bit surprised at how expensive the room rental would be considering the venue. So I won't be making reservation for a large group anytime soon, but nice to know it's an option. Sometimes they will offer you a free soda while you wait for your food, which I think is a really nice touch. The food is great and it does seem like the staff will get to know you if you become a regular. I think they're starting to...
