Yen Ching Restaurant — Restaurant in Dubuque

Wow. I'm not sure how this place gets anything other than 1 star from anyone. Simply the worst food I've ever had. The restaurant itself was dirty, dingy, and smelled like mildew. The server was pretty odd, rude, and dismissive.

The "egg drop soup" was so viscous the spoon stood up in it. The only flavor it had was a bit of old deep fryer oil. I took two spoons of it before I got worried I might get sick. With the main, I got a crab rangoon. Not sure how but it tasted a little bit like bleach.

In my dish there were baby potatoes, which was weird and not correct. My only guess is that they saw a picture of the dish and saw water chestnuts in the picture and then decided they must be looking at baby potatoes? We also had fried rice which wasn't fried at all. It was steamed brown rice with some peas and carrots in it. Did they see a picture of fried rice and wonder why it was brown and then guessed it was brown rice? Who knows, but they Do. Not. Know. Chinese. Food!

We were both so grossed out, we just left money on the table and left. My dining partner had one bite of their main, and none of the soup because the food was...

My family and I walked in and were greated by a "wait to be seated" sign and stood there for a considerable amount of time. This would have been understandable except there was only one other table in the restaurant. We were offered a booth or a table to our liking. When going to sit in the booth, we were told we couldn't sit there due to not enough room. We were one of two tables in the restaurant. Our waitress didn't get our drink orders, the 'hot tea' was lukewarm, our food came out fast but was not up to temp or even hot. Crab Rangoons were mushy. Rice was cold and crunchy. The steamed veggies that were ordered were still hard. Half way through our meal the waitresses cell phone went off three times and she answered all three times and then continued to ask if it was okay if she went outside to smoke a cigarette. My family and I were done with our meals before she was back in and took forever with the check.

We looked up Chinese restaurants in Dubuque and were excited to find one with 4 stars and good reviews. Maybe it was just an off night or that the waitress was new, however my family and I won't be attending...

Ordered through DoorDash and everything was just complete trash we ordered the wonton soup there was nothing there it was just junk and rapper no actual filling. The sweet and sour chicken came pre-mixed so it was soggy trash just playing awful and they had the audacity to send little cups of sweet and sour like what's the point of that if it's soaking in sweet and sour it was terribly disgusting uneatable. Ordered the sampler for two came with some cuts of beef barbecued egg rolls, crab meat rangoons and some kind of dumpling. So the dumplings were decent really thick rapper though I've never had such a thick rapper that it's just feeling basically anything on the inside was minimal The wrapper was just hugely huge. The egg rolls were decent not much to complain about them things but that is the only thing spent nearly $50 for decent egg rolls and everything else was just straight trash.
