Big Buck's Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Duck

We absolutely love the choice of ice creams and chocolates. We were in Duck store this weekend and the two young men that are J1 students were super friendly. It is nice to see such a great group of young people given the opportunity to work and make money before going back to school. The two gentleman had nothing but amazing things to say about their job and their manager. It was just nice to see that they all three were having a good time, smiles on their faces, and were well presented for the company and the atmosphere. The store was very clean and had a fresh smell to it. I love walking in there because the floors are so white and the air at the door is so refreshing. They were able to take orders very quickly and were able to get people in and out, but to give everyone attention and speak to everyone. My kids love all the stuffed animals and pokemon cards, but they are a little pricey. I have seen complaints about the prices, but I know they are all made by people within the company daily and they are so delicious. Nothing compares to their flavors. I wish we had a store near us, but I will go to Corolla and Duck to get more and more. We have been to the Duck, Kitty Hawk, and Manteo stores and they are all great places with great people working there. I can't wait to see the new store. After a long day at the hot beach, waiting in line for dinner (so loud we couldn't hear ourselves think) I took my family to Big Bucks ice cream. Big Bucks you saved the day! Not only was everyone friendly they were very patient with my indecisive family! They offered tasting and answered questions about ingredients as I am lactose intolerant. The rest of the family got there homemade ice cream, my daughter got the Dubai Sunday, all were over the top fantastic. I was directed to the pints because they can't guarantee cross contamination, which I get. They had a few choices for me and I was thrilled and very satisfied! Of course my kids needed plushies and they had those... So win! We walked onto the boardwalk and enjoyed ourselves having conversations that were not able to be had in the previous restaurant. At the end we even went back for espresso! A family memory that will not be forgotten anytime soon! Thank you Big Bucks. It might be a bit pricier than other places but so worth it... Do not eat at this place if you have allergies!!! There are extreme levels of cross-contamination in all of the different ice creams. Asked the workers to open a new strawberry because the current one had multiple other flavors that had fallen in, and was told they wouldn’t do it. They refused to take any precautions whatsoever to help with the allergies and told us to just leave if we didn’t like it.

Also, they admitted there were no signs up about cross-contamination or risk of allergic reaction and when we told them that it could lead to a lawsuit, they shrugged at us and told us to leave.

Staff is extremely unprofessional, rude, and lazy. If you have an allergy to worry about, find another place to get ice cream!

If you read through the reviews, every single person that had a poor experience, the owner responds with some extremely snarky, smart*ss response. They truly believe they can do no wrong. The staff gets their disrespect from the owners, clearly.
