Dockside N' Duck — Restaurant in Duck

Everytime I've been to Duck and Kitty Hawk, I've had the pleasure of experiencing food from Dockside. Family owned & operated, this seafood market is precious! For starters, it is the CLEANEST seafood market I have ever gone into. It's so nice to walk in and not be bombarded by the smells of the ocean.

Each time I've been able to choose from a wide variety of super fresh, impeccably clean, and extremely affordable seafood, among other options. Not only do they have great seafood, but they have delicious and homemade tomato pies, cream spinach, key lime pies, chocolate pies and tons of other options to go with your seafood feast. Yum, Yum!!

The service is top notch, with kind and friendly people ready and willing to assist you in anyway they can. The owners and employees are knowledgeable about their products and can make recommendations to fit your hankering taste buds.

Had an unfortunate experience over Labor Day weekend getting 2doz steamed crabs from Dockside-n-Duck. First time in Duck, NC our family wanted to have crabs for dinner, and we opted for Dockside based on reviews and what appeared to be no other alternative options in town for crabs. The price seemed ideal as well, 2doz large for $70 (total).

Got the crabs home and the top layer of crabs seemed ok, crab poop was yellow which indicates the crabs were fresh, they weren't meaty but decent for the price. The remaining crabs below were terrible. Hollow and the insides were brown/gray which meant the crabs were dead before steaming. Again, for the price I wasn't entirely surprised, however we definitely regretted the experience given we were excited for crab night while on vacation. Bottom line, you get what you pay for, but we will look elsewhere for...

9/9/20 update:

Our family comes every year to the OBX and we always spend several hundred dollars in this business. However, this is going to be our last visit and we'll have to find another fish market.😥 Unfortunately they don't care for their customers and/or the tourists health, I don't know if it's new or it has been always but now due to the Covid-19 situation made it evident. They are not friendly anymore. Most important, none of the people who work there wear masks and they don't ask customers to wear masks inside their business.
