Waited nearly an hour in August heat for glutenfree donut delivery. Then was overcharged by the owner. $34 for 3 donuts at 3.99 each =$12 Added a Pure Leaf Iced Tea from the case and a box of KDH rum and nut cluster bites which retail for $10-12 elsewhere. They put cracker crumbs or something in the nut clusters so I had to throw them out anyway.
But no way in heck does a little bottle of tea cost ten bucks or anywhere near it, even with tax. She does not have prices listed anywhere. I challenged it and she did not provide a printed copy. Just a totaled version. It was shady behavior and a real turn-off after driving that far for gf and waiting that long.
Additional response:
Since I am also in the hospitality industry it takes me awhile to have free time for something like this. But it also means my leisure time is much more precious to me and knowing what the industry is like, I have a more compassionate understanding, especially during pandemic months, but also know instinctively when someone should be doing far better. I vokuntarily waited an hour because they had not been delivered yet, not because of any line. Given that level of patience, this should have been handled better.
If you read through my post, you saw that I was speaking directly to an owner who did not provide any additional clarification even though I asked onsite. I always try to speak to a manager because again, I know what its like. I was extremely disappointed in her response and behavior and yes it was shady to not provide clarification when requested. It should have been clearly marked or written on the receipt.
Be assured I'll check ingredients more thoroughly before wasting my money but will not be back. I am posting because the experience was so unnecessarily negative and ill-handled that it bore recording.
I hope in the future, better care will be taken with all of your customers, not just the ones she thought she could get over on. I don't know if it was my color or what factor came into play with the behavior. I don't require self-important lecturing.
What I do know is that retail is not rocket science.
So far you said nothing to address the real issue: lack of transparency. Construction paper, price stickers, tape and markers are not expensive. A clear price on your shelves and coolers would have prevented this experience and not required time- and labor-consuming individual item pricing. So how is this difficult? This is one of THE most basic functions of a retail store. And a lack of pricing transparency borders on predatory.
But I know better than all of that handwaving and am not hearing any of...
Read moreMy children and I have NEVER been treated so poorly. I would never step foot in this establishment again. This is our first family trip to the Outer Banks and unfortunately there ended up being a tropical storm. Our 4 children have been cooped up in the house for 2 days. We finally ventured out to get dinner then gave our children the option of going to Donutz On a Stick or the movies. After seeing Donutz on a stick online, they were so excited and chose this place over the movies. When we arrived our children were looking around at all the candy, souvenirs, etc. It seemed like a kid paradise. We asked what the toppings were for on the wall, and I was told it was only for the donuts as if I were a complete idiot. One of my 2 boys, a middle school aged boy and very well mannered, was looking at the toppings and apparently he tried to twist it to see how the toppings come out...and of course, the toppings came out. A man came from the back and went over to pick the toppings up from the tray that is there to catch the toppings and my child apologized. Several minutes passed and we were ready to place our order, and my other middle school aged son went to look at the toppings to decide if he wanted ice cream or a doughnut with toppings, and while he was looking at them, the girl behind the counter yelled at my son "Don't touch the toppings!!" And the man yelled even louder, "Seriously!! You boys should've learned from the first time! Don't touch it!!" My son was so caught off guard because he's very well behaved. I was floored with how rude and hateful these people were. I told my children to put their stuffed animals back that we'd planned to buy and we were about to head out when the man told me I wasn't going anywhere until I paid for the toppings my son wasted that he had to clean up. So I gave the man the $1.07 he demanded for what was the equivalent of a quarter cup (the topping that was accidently spilled looked like Frosted Flakes) of cereal. I'm not sure I've ever been treated so poorly in any business and I know my children never have! I will never, ever consider this place again. The man working there appears mentally unstable based on the way he treated a little girl that was there a month or 2 ago, then the way he treated is tonight! Don't run an establishment geared towards children if you clearly can't tolerate children!!! I would avoid this place...
Read moreThe tiny child at the register didn't understand my question. He didn't know how to add and subtract and tried to over charge me extra on an extremely simple order. When I politely corrected him he was disrespectful, rude and cursed in front of my wife and 2 year old daughter and I was asked to leave. They said I needed to leave because I didn't know how to talk to people properly. Wow. Ok. So I left. While leaving the store I was called names and insulted because of my physical appearance. All because he couldn't do simple addition and I didn't want to be charged an extra $2.00 on a $5.79 order. Not sure how this place is still in business. I was calm and realized he was insulted because I called him out on the math. But I have never seen two people act this way just because they couldn't add. It was sad that these two are so insecure with bad business ethics that they would turn away business in the off season just because they lacked the intelligence to be professional and do basic math. But sincerely, best of luck to you're business. You will need it unless you learn your own prices and how to talk to customers. On a quick note, I was confused on how anyone could be so lacking in common sense, that they would actually threaten a man twice their size with violence in front of his wife and daughter. Over a donut? This proving the drugs and alcohol problems in this area are worse than we thought. Not a family oriented place. Aside from all this "Rooster" measuring contest, the store is dirty and had a mildew smell to it. Not what you expect when you're dealing in a food establishment. Don't listen to the other good reviews. They are written by the friends of the people that work here and own this business. The locals stick together and write all the good reviews for each other. Avoid this place like COVID 19. There are so many donut places in Nags Head, Duck, and Kitty hawk. Just pick another. Feel sorry...
