We used to be home owners in Duck Landing. Roadside was our favorite spot to eat in the area. We would visit multiple times throughout the week and thoroughly enjoy the service and food. Unfortunately, things have changed drastically. We came for a patio lunch on 9/19/20. It took the waitress 45 mins to deliver drinks to our table and another 20 mins for straws. Our food arrived before drinks. The tea served was stale. We had to order soda products as the waitress indicated she did not have time to make fresh tea. Another neighboring table had the same issue with the tea. A nearby table hadn’t been bused in over an hour. The plates were attracting lots of flys. As our plates started piling up we moved our own plates to an alternate table to prevent the flys from swarming around our table. The waitress did not bus a single plate between appetizers and the meal. When the food came out we requested basic condiments for the burger. After 15 minutes waiting for mustard and ketchup, we had to go in the physical restaurant to request condiments for the burger. This was not ideal as we are trying not to go to indoor public places due to Covid. The waitress seemed annoyed the entire time. There were other tables that walked out after they became tired of waiting for service. It seemed to be a reoccurring theme throughout the patio area.
We thought we’d give the restaurant a second chance as it had been our favorite for years. We went back on 9/25/20 for lunch. When I requested an outdoor table the waiter replied “I have to go find towels to wipe off the table if I don’t come back in 5 minutes come find me.” There was no one waiting for seating and the restaurant was not on a wait. We ended up wiping down our own table and seating ourselves. We went inside to secure menus and silverware from the waiter and advise him we had wiped everything down. He acknowledged us and said he’d be out shortly. After 15 minutes of no one coming out to greet us and take drink orders we left. Another family also left due to no service while we were there. The staff seemed completely unphased that people were walking out.
They are severely short staffed. The food was okay but the service is terrible. They make you feel like a nuisance. It’s as if they don’t want customers. It’s not an enjoyable experience. It’s sad because this place used to have excellent service. Good luck on seating and service. Not like the old days! The I don’t care attitude by the entire staff is not a good look.
We understand Covid has changed lots of businesses and operations but the owner needs to get in there and give the staff an attitude adjustment ASAP! Or hire...
Read moreI don't love leaving meh reviews, but it was definitely a meh experience. We tried eating here a few years ago and made the trip up only to find out they were closed for a private event and they told us to go to the backbar area that had limited food options that we weren't interested in.
We decided to give them another try this year because the reviews seemed to indicate they were worth it. Our experiences was just Meh.
We went earlier in the evening for dinner and brought a pup along to dine on the outdoor patio. With their walled in patio, it was so hot because there wasn't great airflow and we had to ask to turn fans on. It was a warm day, but we'd been shopping and sitting outside without issue since there had been a nice breeze elsewhere.
I love me a good clam chowder and I was excited to try this hyped up chowder. I was not impressed at all. Minimal clams and what was in there were tiny pieces, all the other veggies/potatoes were also in tiny pieces that gave it a boring texture. The flavor was fine, but definitely not something to write home about.
One person got the fish tacos, that was supposed to be blackened (per their menu). What was served didn't seem like any sort of blackened fish we'd ever seen... it seemed almost fried cubes rather than blackened and it was really over cooked and dry. The salsa on the tacos was good though
Another person got the chicken and rice and while the sauce flavor was good, the chicken breasts had a poor texture and seemed like the cheap bulk frozen bags of chicken breasts.
One person had iced tea and instead of bringing a new glass of tea... the waitress topped off the already small glass and poured like 3oz of fresh tea into the half glass of melted ice and tea remnants already in the glass... so the result was really watered down "tea" and no ice so it was not ideal.
So yeah... nothing horrible, but it...
Read moreVery disappointing. It started with the wild mushroom salad which SAYS on the menu it has feta cheese. One taste and I knew it was goat cheese, not feta. Advised the waitress, she said it's feta, she checked with the kitchen and came back again and said they told her it was feta. We (confirmed by several at our table) again said it's goat cheese and she said I'll bring you another one with NO cheese! To her defense she came back later and agreed it was goat. BUT we were charged $12 for a salad WITHOUT feta because they didn't have any feta in the building! Very poor business practice! The chef/buyer/manager doesn't know the difference between goat and feta! That's when our party of 8 should have exited the building, but we were hungry and tired. Duck was ordered with sauce on the side and it was drowning in sauce. Tuna was ordered medium and it was the driest tuna we've ever tasted (terribly overcooked). The fish special was swimming in a sweet sauce (literally) wish I could add the picture of that here. How hard is it to make a mojito? $10 mojito was watery and flavorless. The ONLY kids menu "option" was buttery noodles. They were overcooked and mushy. Noodles! Seafood muddle was flavorless. "Fresh" seafood flavorless? Maybe the chef was having a bad day, but it was a really bad day and they were not concerned about whether we enjoyed our...
