This bakery has evolved lots in the last 5 years. I live close to it and often stop by for a sweet or savory treat after hike Chester or a walk on the lakewalk or as a Sunday treat.
If you get 3-4 items you can usually get a cute and fashionable pink 🩷 box.
Their croissants 🥐are BEST in town (my opinion) but that is also due to their variety.
There are easily 10 sweet croissant options. There are also Danish.
But their "croissants" are butter dough with lots of lamination, flakes and flavor.
Almond, chocolate, and the caramel roll are a MUST try and have again.
Plus there and at least 5 savory, plain, grueyer cheese and some sort of veggie option. Keep that going.
A croissant will cost you anywhere from $4.5 to $5.5.
But they are worth it!!
I've traveled to France at least 5 times now, and their croissant section is worth it and it gives me a taste of authentic village French Brassarie.
They have wheat free products as well (a bar is about $2.5).
I have not yet tried their cookies or bread. But would gladly get a baguette every dya 🥖 If they offered.
The place has lots of progressive signs. Don't let that stop you from trying something delicious.
Parking is on the street. But this is a bakery and the idea is that you stop by and grab an item.
There is no place to sit down and eat your treat.
Lastly, make sure to leave a tip. This is a locally owned and operated business and your support will be welcomed to ensure that food diversity and quality remains strong and hopefully thrives.
You can pay with a credit card and cash.
I'd love to see a few tables out on the street and maybe the addition of a few basic coffee options (espresso).
But I get the logistics of this will be tough to navigate and likely distract from the premise of a bakery.
But the neighborhood could use and support a French Like Cafe (especially in the summertime) and there is NO other business in town that is better positioned to do just that in Duluth in the same location. Think...

Was looking for a bakery to get some good pastries and happened across Positively 3rd Street Bakery while scrolling around Google Maps. Since many of the negative reviews spoke specifically about the promoted politics (which has NOTHING to do with the quality or taste of food), I thought I'd give them a try and was so glad that I did!
We stopped by the bakery on our way up to our cabin and were so impressed we had to stop by again on our way back. Got a few different items:
Cookies: Soft, tasty and big! Overall we tried a total of 5 different cookies and each one was fantastic. Have I had better cookies? Probably, but these are up there with the best no doubt!
Pastries: Had a caramel croissant, Spinach Gruyère Danish, Gruyère - filled Croissant, and a chocolate filled pastry. The pastry in all cases was buttery, light, flakey, and had a wonderful crispiness to them. Overall some of the best I've ever had!
Now lets address a common complaint: Cost. Yes, the baked goods here are going to be more expensive than what you'll get from a major grocery chain's bakery section but is also infinitely better. They aren't cheap, but they are reasonable considering the quality of product delivered. The cost of the goods reflects the quality of ingredients used, the extra time to for the comparatively smaller batches, and the fact that the money is going to the people behind the counter and not some large parent company only seeking to drive higher profits for shareholders. If you support the concept of a living wage, then for small independently-owned businesses, that means higher prices.
Overall, Positively 3rd Street Bakery is positively wonderful! Definitely worth a visit if quality bakery goods...
Read moreSuch a lovely spot to buy some locally baked goods. The minute you walk in, you feel the warmth of the ovens and welcoming smells of fresh baked goods. I bought an apple turnover, a caramel croissant fresh out of the oven, a thunder cookie, and a blueberry scone. There are many other great items too. The caramel croissant used to be one of my favorites, but after trying the apple turnover for the first time today, I immediately changed my mind. The flakiness as you bite into the turnover accompanied by the warm apple inside was an intense combination of flavors and textures. They had a great selection of cookies and recommended trying the thunder cookie. The thunder cookie was a peanut butter, rolled oats, and warm chocolate chip masterpiece. I can see why this is a bestseller. The caramel croissant was a little doughy and less flaky since I last tried it a few years ago, but it could've been because I had it straight out of the oven, and it was a humid morning. You can't go wrong with getting a warm and fresh croissant right out of the oven though. Lastly, the blueberry scone was massive. It was a little dense, but the crispy edges and top were fantastic. It had a generous amount of blueberrys, and when you cut it into smaller pieces, it was even better. I love that they have all the ingredients listed as well. They have a friendly staff and an inviting business which is why they will always have me as a...
