This park was one of the best things about living in Duluth. I used to live just a few blocks away and I'd take my children on a walk here almost every day. There is a public restroom, metered parking, and are trails that lead back into town both north and south of the park area, and a trail that leads all the way over to the boardwalk on the peninsula.

The rose garden area is just across the street from a Super1, so its fun to stop there and then picnic down in the park. There are many areas that are wonderful photo ops, a great view of the lake on the horizon, you can see and access the rocky shores and pebble beaches and have a good view of the ships coming in and the lift bridge.

Everything is well maintained: the paths are smooth, the foliage is always kempt and it is very clean. Its a hotspot for joggers, cyclists and roller bladers in the summer, so the trails are busy but they have a line down the middle to separate the lanes and for the most part people are very polite.

Its a great place to stop and just take in the view. There's plenty of room off the trails for kiddos to just run and explore, trees and rocks to climb, and plenty of benches to just relax.
