I love Leif Erikson Park! It has been a favorite place of mine in Duluth for as long as I have know about it. As a kid it was wonder. Giant rose bushes in what seemed like an endless twisting fantasy world. The cobble walkway, the sculpture fountain, the view of the lake and the eventual path to the Castle and Boat. Sure, it's just a stage now made to look kinda like a castle, but as a child, it was the castle that guarded the lake. A replica of Leif's boat was the inspiration for countless adventures on the lake.

As an adult I still love this park. Past the nostalgia its an incredible calming walk. Then you get to the stage and its large grassy bowl acting like an amphitheater and the view of the lake just beyond is it's own sort of magic.

During the summers you can find various festivals and movies in the park. When there is no events planned you will find jugglers, musicians and flame twirlers practicing their skill.

Early in the mornings you will find joggers, yoga groups, walkers, bikers and various folks just slowly meandering down the lake walk.

Now with the introduction of Pokemon Go, the various locations around the park that were once valued Ingress portals, are now an endless stream of Pokestops to get gear. When it's busy you can find 100+ players interacting, sharing, placing lures and capturing those desired digital creatures.

When you have the park to yourself. Especially on a dewy morning just before sunrise, it is Nirvana.

If you live in Duluth you already know what I mean. If you don't, then you should definitely stop to see this park. You won't be...

Leif Erikson Park is a magical realm in the heart of Duluth, MN. Just enter and you'll feel the spirit of a Norwegian welcome, like a family whose door is always open, even if you've never met them. There's so much space here to walk, lie down, sit in the grass, look for virtual Pokemons (if anyone still doors that), have a picnic, ... There's sun, shade, a cool stage which is sometimes empty, welcoming shenanigans, and sometimes showcasing our talented local and visitor artists. The pebble beach behind the stage is my most favorite part of Lake Superior with an awesome view of the North Shore as well as Canal Park. From this park, you're mere feet away from the gorgeous Rose Garden which sits on a short cliff overlooking the lake. And you're right in the middle of the paved lakewalk path which will guide you north or south to abundantly more exceptional views of the city and the lake. I cannot recommend this place strongly enough - it's a place that can remind you the world is worth living in, that humans are actually good, that communities are worth working and fighting for, and that the greatest pleasures in life can be found when you simply stop and look around. There's enough space here for everyone - you're always welcome, and it will never be too crowded for you...

Leif Erikson Park, located at 1301 London Rd, Duluth, MN, is a bit of a mixed bag for me, earning it a 3-star review. On one hand, the park offers a beautiful Rose Garden and a historic amphitheater stage, making it a great place for leisure and events. The views of Lake Superior are truly breathtaking, and the Lakewalk adds a nice touch for those looking to get some exercise. However, I find it perplexing that the park is named after a Viking ship replica built to commemorate Leif Erikson's voyage to North America. What's even more puzzling is that this naming decision was influenced by the Shriners, a Masonic organization. It doesn't quite align with the overall theme and history of the park, creating a somewhat disjointed experience. The park is generally well-maintained, but it can get crowded, making parking a hassle. If you can overlook these quirks, it's worth a visit, but don't expect a seamless experience.

Wow, dang, oh mah gawsh! This park is gorgeous in so many ways! The park itself is really beautiful and open for picnics, kicking a football, tossing an American football, or tossing around a frisbee. The lake front is stunning with wonderful boulders to rest on as the tide rises and falls. There are lovely small stones for skipping out into the deep. As well as a pleasant stone beach to take in he sunshine! A lot of people like to take there children here, which I think is really wonderful. I do get a little nervous as some of the tides can be a bit strong for unaware youngsters. If kids are out on the rocks they should be ware of the lake side as the footing can drop off pretty quick from the shallow shoreline.

Really enjoyed this park on Lake Superior. There are a lot of trails running through here and along the lakeside. The stage and amphitheater structures are interesting, as is the bridge into the park. Didn’t get to see the attached rose garden but was definitely interested. Live music would be awesome here, but we visited in fall, so no outdoor events. Still a lot of people outside using the grounds and the Lakewalk. Would recommend
