WORST food and experience. I ate here many times, but the food quality has significantly dropped beyond words. Steamed mando (dumpling) came out nearly cold even though it used to come out fresh and hot. This is the second time happening, and I asked to make sure that dumplings come out hot before ordering. The dumpling skin was soggy and all mushy; it was clear that they had these dumplings steamed hours in advance and was just re-steaming them before serving. Dumplings here used to taste great, but they're just absolute trash. I thought this was a mistake and went up to the employee to complain. Instead of apologizing, she was rude and took my dumplings away with an attitude and a frown on her face. When she brought back the dumplings, they weren't freshly new steamed ones. She just put the same dumplings (that we returned) in the steamer and re-steamed it!! Guess what happened? Already soggy and mushy dumplings became even more soggy and mushy. In these cases, most restaurants bring you a fresh new dish, but the employee just brought out the same dumplings we just returned to them (but now re-steamed to make them look "fresh"). I know this because I returned 3 dumplings (my parents and I tried 3 dumplings but couldn't finish them because they were so bad). So there should be 6 dumplings total if it came out new, but we just got 3 dumplings back on the same dirty plate we used to return them. There was no dumpling juice inside the dumpling because dumpling skin was all melted literally. The WORST dumpling I've had in my life, and dumplings are expensive too. I've eaten here since last year and it wasn't like this before.
There shouldn't be any excuse for this because the night my family went, they weren't even busy and there were many empty tables unlike during lunchtime when the place is packed. I've had steam dumplings my entire life and know when they were steamed many hours in advance. Otherwise, the dumpling skin can never get that soggy, watery and mushy. They are clearly using this strategy to sell more dumplings at faster speed while deceiving customers. What an absolute waste of money and terrible service. My family is never coming back here, and I hope you won't be coming back to throw away your money either. Good bye, Sambong. You'd be losing all your loyal customers eventually...
Read moreThis is the best Korean cold noodles I've had. I was apprehensive after looking at the limited menu but am so glad that we came here with the family. People usually think of warm, soothing soondubu when thinking of Korean soups, but the cold noodle soup is nothing like that. Yet, it's delicious in its own way. Even though it's great any time of the year, I especially look forward to coming here more during the summer.
For those who have not visited before: you order and pay up front, take a table number, find a seat, and pick up your food at the counter when they call your number. I recommend ordering a noodle combo (cold noodle soup + side of meat). I think only the guy up front spoke fluent English.
You can grab your own hot or cold water AND some delicious, hot beef broth to sip on. Before we got our food, I knew it was going to be great because of the beef broth. It's very flavorful and light-- I usually don't drink plain broth but made an exception for this. The broth in the cold noodle soup was different but just as tasty. Very rarely would I describe a noodle dish as "refreshing" but that's exactly what this was. The hot noodle soup was good too, but I'm sticking to the cold noodle specialty with BBQ pork. The cucumber/radish slivers in the cold soup were especially wonderful- I wish I could order extra cucumber as an add-on.
Shout out to the gentleman up front who was very patient with my indecisive family taking 10 minutes to order. He understood that it was our first time and we didn't really understand what we were ordering. He even checked with us in the middle of our meal to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. (Our 6-person group ordered 5 entrees and 1 mung bean pancake-- this was more than enough food for us.)
Pros: refreshing Korean cold noodle; delicious broth Cons: not...
Read moreIt was my first time to come here. Wednesday's lunch time but the restaurant was packed. It took us about 15 minutes to have a table. It's like a food court style. We ordered and paid at the cashier before seated . Mainly Naengmyun( all cold noodles )were with pictures but sets were only written. Usually Korean food is served with a little side dishes so I preferred the set menu also with pictures. I could tell most of customers were Korean! That made me so excited! Customers prove their taste!
The cashier was working so mechanically ( he wore a mask) and confirmed so fast. I barely couldn't understood. Anyway he gave us our receipt and buzzer that let us know when our food is ready.
It took 10-15 minutes. All utensils, condiments, water or hot water ( white cups) are self service. And pretty much all customers pick metal cup?? It seems beef bone soup! We tried... I felt ... Maybe I need a little bit of salt & pepper.
We ordered cold noodles and a pork BBQ set, Steamed Dumplings. The Noodle Bowls were really chilly the noodles were thin & nicely chewy. The toppings were very simple ( a sliced meat, hard boiled egg, cucumber, radish) + the Asian sliced pear was good accent. Really refreshing! Pork BBQ was simple but flavorful. I expect it to be a little bit spicy but not at all. Noodle & BBQ .. I recommend to use scissors ✂️ The side dish was sliced radishes ( marinated with vinegar)
Pork Dumpling were big 6 pieces/ order. They were steamed so not greasy and served with radishes also the same as the cold noodle set. I was kind of surprised that we went to a Korean restaurant but ALL non spicy stuff came. Dumplings were enough garlic though.
I was curious about other customers orders served Kimchi. Maybe I will try spicy noodle ( Bibim Neangmyun)...
