Tokyo Shokudo — Restaurant in Duluth

This place is a hidden gem. I didn’t want to write this review, mainly for selfish reasons, so that I can keep it to myself. But, the wonderful couple that own this restaurant are too nice, and I prefer they stay open by getting more business.

We came upon this place serendipitously. We were supposed to go to another restaurant, but being that it was Father’s Day, the other restaurant required reservations and we didn’t think of making one. Sitting in the car while in the other restaurant’s parking lot, thinking of where to go next, our online search for a nearby Sushi restaurant returned Tokyo Shokudo. I placed a call and asked if they are requiring reservations, and the lady that I spoke with said to give them about 30 minutes so that they can take care of the takeout orders first. We arrived 30 minutes later and were seated in the modest dining area. There was one other family dining during that time, we were dining rather early, about 5:30pm. We were seated and menus were provided. Service was not as swift as other restaurants maybe, and that was fine with us since it was Father’s Day. We noticed that it seemed to be just the couple running the restaurant, so keep that in mind when you do decide to visit. This is a restaurant where you come for the quality of the food, not the quick service. It was OK with us because you can see them trying their very best and working very hard to attend to all their customers. After sometime, but not very long, our orders were taken by the nice lady.

The food is what you really come here for. I’ve been to many Japanese/Sushi restaurants (not Japan though) and I can honestly say that the food at Tokyo Shokudo was one of the best we’ve ever had. In addition, the price was quite reasonable for the amount and quality of food that was served, it was just astonishing.

We will surely come back to enjoy the food at Tokyo Shokudo, and we will continue to support the lovely, hardworking couple that run...

In atlanta there are many of Japanese restaurant are excellent. However, Tokyo Shokudo is the most popular and casual Izakaya​ restaurant. We are so satisfied with the taste of Lunch Box as well as the value of the price and service from pure Japanese chef . The first dish as starter was nice fresh salad and a bowl of miso-soup served with the Lunch Box was the real taste of Japanese dashi . Tea is served between meals is also a good flavour of green tea without charge.we are thankful of them to offer delicious tea to customers, because of Madame is Tea-Master We can not accept this service in Japan as the same price. I recognized that the consistent efforts of the owner to keep the same quality taste as Japan...

If you're looking for authentic Japanese food, Tokyo Shokudo is the place to go! I recently visited this restaurant and was blown away by the quality of the food. The hamachi kama was a standout dish for me and had a unique flavor that I couldn't find anywhere else.

What impressed me most about Tokyo Shokudo was the attention to detail from the Japanese chef. You can really taste the authenticity in every dish, and it's clear that every ingredient is carefully selected and prepared to perfection.
