I am updating this review. Both rating and content. I'll leave the previous 4* review below. I walked in at 3:47 p.m. two others I was meeting had not yet arrived. I ordered everyone's drinks and waited for my party to arrive. 4:05 p.m. We ordered the wonton taco appetizer and our meals. Wings, a salad and salmon. 4:45 they bring the appetizer. I asked about the food. My wife needed to be at work at 5:45p.m. 15 minutes away. We're told they are working on it. I told the server to bring me the check for the drinks and won ton tacos, as we now needed to go get my wife some dinner in time to make her shift as a nurse. During this time I noticed another patron and party leave because they hadn't received their food in 45 minutes. I'm really sad to see our local Applebee's circling the drain like it is. It is the last time I'll spend a dime here. I've come back again and again trying to support these folks and I simply can't any longer. The manger, should have come to the table and apologized. But to send the server to deal with a patron walking is extremely poor form. I would avoid Applebee's Duncan as it seems be be headed out. It's really sad to see another choice for dinner go under in our small market. It's becoming painfully obvious this place will close for eternal remodeling like so many others have.
Follows is the previous 4* review I had left just over a year previous to the above 11/23 review. Sad to see them derail so badly.
Like every business in the ronaverse you need to have some patience. The food, steaks, chicken, appetizers were acceptably good quality and cooked properly. The service was stretched thin. Drink orders were slow but it was very evident they were trying. In a town like Duncan without a large group of college kids, employing high school kids is necessary, the pool of experienced willing wait staff, cooks, etc. is small. Be patient and try to be kind. If you have an obviously new server try to be encouraging. Having to deal with an angry patron is the managers job, don't run off a server. Get the manager and let him know. When I've had issues in the past he always attempted to make it right. If we don't have patience we'll just be without...
Read moreThis Applebee’s was once my favorite place to eat in Duncan, but over the past several months I have seen it slowly go downhill. There have been nights where I’ve walked in and they were not very busy, but there was no host in sight. I’ve been served lukewarm food and un-fresh tasting beverages. I’ve even been spoken to in a very rude manner by the staff, but the absolute worst experience I’ve had was the most recent, and honestly probably my final visit to the Duncan Applebee’s. I came in with a. Group of friends (6 of us in total). We were 1 of 5 tables in the entire restaurant with at least 3 servers on staff. We had one server who took our drink orders and complained about how she had cut work to do but couldn’t because we were there. Only half of our table was given menus, and 20 minutes later when we finally got our drinks, a different server took two of our orders and just walked away. After about 45 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave, at which point the two orders came out and the server was angry with the fact that we were leaving. I stayed after everyone left to discuss the bill (I was not about to pay after the awful service. We didn’t even get a chance to eat the food). Our server sat down with me and asked me what went wrong. I told her it was the worst service I’d ever had. I’ve worked in food services before, I understand that sometimes it’s not easy but that’s not an excuse. As a food establishment, your top priority should be to give the customers the best experience they’ve ever had. It greatly displeases me to see the lack of effort in this place. I don’t believe in excuses. If you mess up, make it right. Some customers can be frustrating. That doesn’t mean you should be a frustrating server. As much as it pains me to post this review, I feel as though I must inform the community. Whether this place needs different servers, or different management altogether, they need to figure it out. I can’t imagine this Applebee’s staying around for very long with the new reputation that they are earning for themselves. Duncan Applebee’s,...
Read more4 adults 2 children. We ordered bonelessBuffalo chicken bites, sauce on the side, quesadilla burger with 1.00 wings on the side, hh boneless bites, beef nachos, kids corndog w ff and a chicken salad. We were seated, got drinks. The Pepsi did not taste like Pepsi, the waitress was apparently having a very bad day and took it out on us...When the other girl came to take our order we told her our selections after my niece and her wife decided what to get their son and gave her their order after getting my mother's order she took mine and walked off. We waited 45 minutes for our food at the least. We asked how much longer it was going to be. There were other people there that had been there before us. There was no rush. They were not busy. We then got attitude from the server. We waited another 15 minutes and finally got our food. My nephews corn dog was cold, my other nephews boneless bites were cold and looked old. My beef on my nachos was room temp at best and well over cooked and dry. The hhboneless wings were cold and dry. The quesadilla burger had very dry pieces of meat and a minimal amount of lettuce when my niece asked for everything. Her boneless wings were cold as well. My mother's chicken salad was about the only thing we can say was ok. Needless to say we will not be going there again. Service and food were at best mediocre. When we left, there had been 3 gentlemen that got there after us and got their food before us andeft before we did about 15 mins or more and their plates were still sitting on the table. The one waitress was wearing a bright colored hoodie as well. I would hate to accuse anyone of being biased against my niece and her wife, or maybe it was my nephew with cerebral palsy but we were treated poorly without any cause so I'm left wondering why that may have been. I would suggest cleaning house and getting an entirely new staff maybe except for the bar tender. She seemed to have been treating those seated at the bar very well. Go at...
