This is one of the most delightful places in Duncan to have a nice meal and a glass of wine.
The atmosphere is so relaxed and soothing. There's plenty of natural light, but it's not too bright inside, no annoying buzzing strips of light above you. The seating is comfortable, it's not too loud even when busy.
The staff is helpful and pleasant, and they will attempt to meet all your wishes.
The food is beyond compare. As we all know, Duncan is a food desert. There are one or two small niche diners or restaurants that are pleasant and serve food that may not actually be fried!
Last night, we were fairly pedestrian in our choices, and I was picking it up to take it home. I did not know the menu by heart, so I went inside and asked to see a menu to place an order to go. I was directed to take a seat and take my time looking at the menu.
I finally settled on a specialty pizza for my husband and chicken parmigiana for myself. I asked if I might have a glass of wine while waiting for the food to be prepared. They graciously brought out a full glass of water with a slice of lemon and a nice cool glass of Pinot Grigio.
Normally, when I have to sit somewhere and wait for something, I read. Not from my phone, but from an actual book. Most of the places I have to wait have horrible lighting, head throbbing acoustics, and nothing interesting to look at. Such is not the case at Napoli's. The temperature was comfortable, the wine was perfect, and about the time I had finished the wine and some of the water, my food came out.
I drove directly home, a matter of two or three miles, and when I brought the food in, the smell was intoxicating. The pizza was done to a turn. The crust was crunchy and light. My chicken parmigiana was also perfect, sizzling hot outside, moist flavorful chicken inside, and a delicious basic red sauce. They also make their own rolls, which are to die for.
I'm looking forward to an evening when we are not pressed to accomplish tasks for an opportunity to go to Napoli's and eat there. There are several things on their menu I've not had and would love to try. And the atmosphere was so pleasant, I almost didn't want to leave.
So I encourage you to give them a try. If you're not familiar with Italian food beyond spaghetti and pizza, that's fine. They have excellent selections of both. But they have so much more!
Let's support an independent local restaurant that is not just serving fried meat with white gravy. There's a time and a place for fried meat with white gravy, but it is not every day. My heart thanks me. Check it out! Maybe I'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been here a few times and itās been okay. We were sat and brought rolls and drinks. I requested ranch for the rolls and as time passed with no ranch, i walk to the front and my waiter was sitting at the front booth on social media.
This time, i ordered a dish and it came out completely flavorless and flat. When my waiter asked if everything was okay, i kindly let him know the dish had no flavor and was very flat. I asked if i could swap the dish for another and he then got an attitude and told me that they donāt make peoples āfavorite dishesā and they make it the same for everyone.
I told him that I understand that and he said he was still going to charge me. I pointed to my plate and let him know i didnāt touch the dish except for about 3 small bites and he said āi can do 50% offā.
I told him i would take the 50% off and about 10 minutes later he brought our ticket. It had the dishes at full price. Once i got up to the front to pay, i mentioned to the lady that was working that he offered 50% off one of the dishes and she argued with me. I told her she could ask him herself and she said āiāll do it this timeā. Service was soooooo lackluster. This same woman that checked me out was the same lady sitting at the front of the restaurant with her flip flops on the floor and bare feet in the seat on her phone. I normally donāt leave reviews but they were both so disrespectful, I will not be back and donāt recommend unless you want a less than...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalking in, the atmosphere was really nice. The hostess was really good. The bread . We had an appetizer sampler, chicken marsala, and the seafood special. Both entrees came with a salad. I ordered Italian dressing on mine and the waiter came back with something red all over my salad. I can only assume, based on the taste, that it was marinara mixed with a tangy vinaigrette. It was so off-putting and gross. The appetizer sampler was clearly all frozen stuff and the fried mushrooms were basically burnt. The seafood special was cooked well and the sauce was good but the mussels in it weren't cleaned properly and still had a sandy quality to them. All the dishes here looked to just be basic spaghetti with different sauces, and most of the food on the plate is just basic spaghetti noodles. We paid about $75 for everything, which is not a justifiable price to pay for spaghetti noodles. We took our food in to-go containers but skipped putting the few fried mushrooms left into the box. The waiter got mad and went to complain that we didn't take the mushrooms to the chef. Some of us that pass through small towns know more than one language. Even McDonald's would be better than this place, I'll take my...
