This place was AWESOME!! From the time we walked through the door and was greeted by the hostess Gina (I hope that's her name) that was waiving at us before we even walked in lol, all the way through the meal that was absolutely delicious and served to us by our awesome waiter Riley, to paying for our check and leaving out. Every bit of the experience here was amazing!!
You have to try: -Strawberry lemonade, Cherry Basil Limeade both (along with others) are made with REAL fruit/fresh ingredients. I'll be back for the Antipasto Bloody Mary
-The basket of focaccia bread with shallots (I think) with olive oil, black pepper & grated parmesano romano? Pecorino? Not sure, just delicious!
-Mixed green salad. NOT your typical house salad!! Minestrone, you can actually SEE that this was made here fresh and NOT out of a can. So hearty and fresh!
-Can't remember the exact name, but it was along the lines of __ Di Mare (pasta with seafood). Huge fresh grilled shrimp and scallops cooked perfectly, little neck clams, mussels and more! A little spicy and very filling!! Bolognese Lasagna, delicious! I NEVER like restaurant lasagna and most times I feel like even I make better lasagna, but the lasagna here has fresh made sauce where you can actually see the fresh tomatoes and it has Italian sausage I think...?
They have so many menu options that are similar to your typical Italian restaurant items, but they do everything with a twist (based off ingredients I read and from what I personally saw and tasted).
Great atmosphere, a staff that isn't just friendly, but actually genuine, and food that tastes like the chef(s) really love what they do and are passionate about their creations and care about the people enjoying them. I've never heard of this place before, we just happened to go here because it was something different on the way home. I will most DEFINITELY be back and will highly recommend this...
Read moreOkay, a year later, we tried it again- I got Lasagna Bolognese and my wife got a ziti, shrimp and chicken dish- I'm giving up on the Algonquin location. The Lasagna was all dough and proctically nothing else- no cheese, barely any sauce in the layers and nowhere near enough meat sauce on the dish- they charge a lot and try to pass it off with extra (less expensive) pasta. The ziti my wife had was same thing- all pasta, three small shriimp and hardly any chicken. I give up- we're willing to pay the cost but not without getting value- these were poor, cheap versions of Ialian cooking.
Before we moved to Huntley, we frequently went to Biaggi's in Deer Park- loved it, never disappointed, great food and service. We have tried the Biaggi's in Algonquin 3-4 times since before the pandemic and now again and been disappointed in the food almost every time. The service and staff are great, but the food makes the extra time spent to drive back to Deer Park worth the drive. This time we were doing carryout so it had to be from the closest option, Algonquin. We ordered chicken Parm and pasta- with a short ride home, the skimpy amount of sauce they put on the dish was completely absorbed and the meal was almost bone dry- both the marina from the chicken and the alfredo from the pasta, just gone! And besides being dry, there was almost no flavor! On previous take-out orders I had asked for a little extra sauce but didn't this time. Again, Deer Park was happy to put a small container of extra sauce in the the meal at no cost- Algonquin put a tiny plastic container the size they usually use for parmesan cheese and charged extra for it. Again, the staff here is great, this seems to be a management/owner problem. We are done with...
Read moreWe won't be back. I ordered the PENNE SARDI (Penne pasta tossed with grilled chicken, wild mushrooms, caramelized onions and a sun-dried tomato cream sauce. Finished in the oven with a topping of crispy garlic and oregano seasoned breadcrumbs).
My pasta was not strained properly so the water and the sun-dried tomato cream sauce was a liquid mess underneath all of the pasta. The dish tasted like plain pasta noodles and breadcrumbs. Yuck!! By the time the waiter checked on us my husband was completely done with his meal!! I complained to our waiter about my meal and he asked if there was anything else he could get for me. Since I was still Hungary and it was our anniversary I wanted to enjoy a meal (while my husband watched b/c he was already done). So I asked for a small portion of spaghetti. One would think the spaghetti would have been on the house....but no....my Penne was comped but I was charged for a kids spaghetti meal. To top it off the manager that brought it to me was a little Snarky and I got the sense that she was being sarcastic when she brought me my food and asked if it was okay. Might I add that the spaghetti sauce was equally as runny as the Penne sauce!! I even looked over at a neighbor eating a bowl pasta and saw liquid like sauce dripping off their pasta too.
WE...
