I cannot rave enough about 1832 or the wonderful staff there! It was my mom's birthday last night and we made reservations basically last minute. We got there and from the moment we met the hostess, I could tell it was going to be a great experience. We were seated and promptly waited on by Kim. She had great attention to detail, greeting my mom for her birthday and getting our drinks for us. She was very attentive when we needed more bread, because who doesn't love the bread? The maple bacon bourbon butter was EPIC! Wow, I can't begin to rave enough about just that! The next thing we know the general manager greets us and we're all suddenly best friends. Ms. V is one of the most genuine people person I've ever met. So sweet, such a wonderful lady and it was her first night back from a 2 month hiatus. We were so glad to meet and be able to speak with her. The time passed quickly from when we ordered our food, the conversation was great and our drinks were replenished with perfect timing. Then the fillet mignon and the seabass arrived at the table and we were quite literally blown away. I get my steak well done, yes I know what a tragedy! Anyway, this fillet was not only flavorful, but it was cooked absolutely perfectly. It was well done but it was still juicy. I didn't think that was possible but IT IS! Huge shoutout to Ernice, the chef that prepared out fillets! AMAZING JOB! Spot on. My mom had the fillet as well, medium well. She couldn't stop complimenting it, even when she was down to the last bite! My best friend got the seabass and proceeded to devour every single bite on her plate. Literally nothing that we ordered was anything less than wonderful. The baked potato was perfectly cooked, there were not any hard spots like you usually find, it was tender and a great size! The brussels sprouts and the asparagus prepared by Chase disappeared in a few bites as well. Like i said, this meal was perfect. Then it was dessert time, complimentary since it was for my mom's birthday celebration and she chose the creme brûlée. Oh. My. God. I'm not the biggest fan of it, I'll eat it but WOW. That was absolutely amazing, I have no other words for it really. I had the chocolate and a taste of the amaretto, both were devine.
Also, the staff is exceptionally trained when it comes to food allergies! My mom cannot have tree nuts, so the chefs prepared her food separately, making sure that there was no contamination. Overall, we wanted to let everyone know that Ms. V, Kim and everyone in the kitchen were brilliant and we will DEFINITELY be back to see them. If you're looking at the pricing and questioning if it's worth it? IT IS WORTH EVERY DIME! Go for it, spurge. Even the TEA is out of this world.
Thank you guys for making my mom's birthday so...
Read moreMeh… I had high hopes for the new Sky tower location. Hopefully they improve.
We took a couple of friends to the new sky tower location for dinner. We’ve been to the other 1832 location on the old side of the casino a couple of times and we thought it was decent, but our meals have mainly been comp’d so nobody is complaining when the food is “free”. With the new location and revised menu we thought this would be better, the decor is nice, the absence of cigarette smog is wonderful, but the food is still just mediocre.
This was high dollar grub for at $200 per person and we’ve dined at many 5 star restaurants, Capital Grille, Ruth’s Chris, Wolfgang Puck’s, Maestro’s, etc and had expensive cuts of beef like A5 Wagyu and never come close to spending what we did at 1832 on just the food.
I’m ok with forking out the cash if I’m wowed by the food. You almost forget that you are in Durant, Oklahoma because the new side of the casino is so nice, it feels like Vegas, until you taste the food.
We had a seafood tower, the one “feeds” 2-4 at $150, it was really small portions, the tiny 1oz lobster tail was over cooked, the 4 medium sized shrimp had a strange bbq smoky sauce flavor. 4 small oysters. 2 small crab legs, no cocktail sauce.
IMHO they shouldn’t try to do anything special to seafood, just make sure it’s fresh, cooked properly and enough portion to actually serve 2-4 for that price. The lobster bisque was dark brown, it wasn’t smooth and had very little lobster. The grocery store variety is better. Good lobster bisque should be peach-orange color, light creamy and with actual lobster in it.
A Caesar salad that had literally no dressing, just some stalks of romaine lettuce and three anchovies, I’ve had some weird salads in my day, but this one took the cake, again, make a classic salad that actually tastes like what it should for $15. Being different by making it with some non existent glazed dressing doesn’t work.
The steak… for $125 I expected my 22oz bone in 35 day dry aged ribeye to be excellent. It was just average, I’d compare it to Texas Roadhouse. The $60 bottle of Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio was ok, but again, way overpriced when the food isn’t up to par.
The service was good, this is no knock to the waiter, I didn’t have a problem giving him a $160 tip, but the $800 for the food, never again.
We know Choctaw has to money to hire an executive chef that can make this place worthy of the price points. Hopefully they do it because if I’m feeling like blowing money I’d rather do it in the casino than in...

Unfortunately my boyfriend and I did not get this experience. But we observed how nicely the couple next to us was treated which made it a more upsetting because the bias in service was obvious.
We made a trip from Dallas impromptu because as foodies we have heard of this steakhouse. We could not book to sit in the restaurant but was informed that we could do a walk in to the bar. Only one seat was available at the time but 2 couple were eating, so we decide to get started on drinks first. So. I took the available seat while my boyfriend stood next to me and we were ignored. After this bartender kept attending to the 2 couples to both side side of me with no mention that someone will attend to us. I started timing- it was 15mins before anyone acknowledged us. The good thing was we started conversing with the couple next to us enjoying the music while waiting on him to acknowledge us. So, we had time to observe how their food was served and treated by the staff. The bread was presented nicely on a board. Multiple host checked on them etc. It seems they were regulars. When a bartender finally acknowledged us, I ordered my drink, and the musicians were back and awesome, so we tried to have a good time. Then our bread was presented in plates compared to everyone else who got served on a board around us. Furthermore, The host had told us when a seat becomes available he will get a seat. The first seat available was offered to another duo. One more duo was wrapping up and we were waiting to take a seat, but again it was offered up to another duo. The nice couple noticed how we were being treated and the husband even offered his seat as he was done eating. But my boyfriend luckily found another seat by the musicians. When we placed our orders- It was I) medium well 2) well. Mine came out medium rare and salty. His came out medium. But at this point, my boyfriend was over it and said let’s finish our meal and leave. He did not want to order dessert or to go back to Dallas. Unfortunately, I could not finish my meal as it was hard to cut. I had already ruined my nice top: The juice got on my top when I was trying to cut that hard steak.
My point is a first time customer can be a lifelong customer. This couple was very nice but it was sad how we were treated in comparison to them. It almost felt like they didn’t...
