Im going into our detailed expirence so others that come in with high expectations like we did know what to expect. This was our first post covid casino buffet and we were surprised and disappointed in alot of ways. We didn't expect fine dining but we did expect alot more from a large casino. Our bill before we ate w/o tip was right around $80 dollars for 2.
We came in Thursday specifically for the crab and prime rib buffet. The crab was lower quality than you would expect from the old 90s Chinese buffets(In-which I ate alot of and enjoyed for the price) It was stained and had a very weird rubbery texture. We literally had to rip it open with a fork edge. You could not crack it with the metal tool. The shells would just bend while the meat was stringy or stuck to the shell walls. It was disappointing, also this was my wife's 1st crab experience. Just hoping for better. The prime rib was OK, especially if you could get over the fattiness and have the meat carver give you a doness you prefer ( He gave us the incorrect doness then told us "The rules are we have to go back to our table leave the plate then come back thru line for another slice because those are the rules his boss makes him follow only 1 slice per person per trip!" We knew this because we listened to this same speach with 2 or 3 seperate people in front of us in the line. If your inclined this also goes for the ribs but they are cut in 2's) This can be tricky because at this buffet you have to wait in each individual stations line including any/all of your salads. Each station is Chipotle style where you have to order. They listen Then you wait for them to prepare your plate. This can be ok but in a busy understaffed buffet this is Extremely disappointing and can be very very frustrating with multiple lines. I prefer to get different food at onc then eat but in this system your hot food will get cold.
The rest of the buffet was OK and edible but nothing special. The deserts were all premade frozen package cakes. They did have an alot of really good selections for the frozen yogurt but that would have required me to wait on line gain until the guy who made my salad caught a break in that line to get or top our stuff. We were done w the line game at this point. I was pleasantly surprised the Bannatyne pudding tast like bananas.
The hostess and our server were both kind to us. The did a good job but there good service can not make up for the overwhelming disappointments in...
Read moreIts been just a little bit since I've gone, but looking for food in Durant and seeing this play pop up again just made me feel like I had to write the review I intended to when I left that evening.
I love a good buffet. I enjoy going to Golden Corral and have since I was a child. I was expecting amazing quality from this place as it is insanely expensive per person (like 30-40!!)
I was beyond disappointed. Basically everything I ate tasted old and almost cold. The only thing I really ended up eating much of was the Prime Rib and Jello.. The pasta was cold and congealed and was a nightmare to scoop let alone eat. The pizza was tough along with pretty much anything else made of bread. The servers hung out directly behind us and had loud conversations when a vast majority of the restaurant was still empty at the time.. like why right there?? I think one of the biggest disappointments was the Banana Pudding. I'm not much of a sweets person, but like any southerner I love banana pudding.. but I couldn't even stomach it because not only was there no cookie in the pudding itself the single wafer on top of the serving was stale to the point of being inedible.
Also just as a side note, having grown up eating at Golden Corral (which imo is far better for a better price, just take the drive to Sherman) it was just jarring to have to ask for a vast majority of the food and to hand off my plate. I deal with severe social anxiety and I was not prepared for that level of interaction just to get some basic food. I'm used to that for stuff like the Prime Rib.. but not for fish. It further threw off my experience personally, though others may not be bothered by that. I just wish it was listed somewhere on the website that you'd need to expect that.
Overall I wouldn't return unless there were major changes to how this place is run or managed but knowing people that work for the Casino.. I don't see that happening any time soon. Seriously, eat anywhere else unleds your okay with paying for very mid tier...
Read moreVisited the casino last weekend and while they want to be Vegas, they are a long ways from this standard. We used to live in Vegas and it's been a while since we have had a good buffet like we used to find in every casino. When I saw crab legs were the special this Friday night, I convinced the family to join me and we got a table. Oh how I wish I would have read these reviews first.
A couple of things to note - this is not a cheap buffet. You can get a discount by having one of their Player Cards, but we still paid $133 ($44/ea) for the three of us. The buffet is set up like you would expect, except you have to wait for the staff to serve you what you would like. In most parts of the buffet, you don't scoop yourself. Funny though, other limited spots in the buffet allow you to do it, so I'm not sure what they are trying to accomplish here. I've never experienced this at a buffet before, but I prefer this to touching a serving spoon 100 people before me has grabbed.
However, that's where the accolades stop. The food quality on a whole was worse than McDonalds. Strike that, worse than whatever is one of your worst dining experiences. I was shocked by how poorly the food every items tasted, with one exception: the snow crab legs. Those were hot and fresh, and tasted delicious. Everything else was far below par and I am not one to complain about food much. Read my other reviews.
The fried chicken was bland and desert dry. The Prime Rib was the same - dry as could be. Even the green beans were nasty. I could not finish my serving. The pecan pie was okay and I was able to finish it, unlike the rest of my plates. For $44, I would expect to have something that better represented that price range, but instead, I was given a bad memory and regrets. Please chose one of the other dining options at this Casino. They must be better than what I just...
