MY OWN EXPERIENCE TODAY!!! So I CHOSE to go with my daughters to lunch here bc they've been several times. It started out friendly and cool. The person taking the orders is super friendly (nothing against him) He turned on the heat lamps outside for us. He is very pleasant. Okay, so we get there around 1, order our food, only one person gets their order, pretty quickly may I add. There weren't many ppl there, AT FIRST. The ppl that were there were already serviced. We're outside, then here comes this HUGE crowd of ppl, so we go back inside. Still waiting on our food, meanwhile, one of my daughters food is getting cold bc she's waiting on us to receive ours. I told her just go ahead and eat her food. No one has come to us to let us know anything. I sent my daughters to ask about our food bc at this point we're nobody bc of this group of ppl that came together. They were served outside like it was a restaurant, given drinks and about to receive the orders they placed by the female owner. So when asked about our order AGAIN, as she's preparing their to go orders, she says, "what's your (buzzer) #", I tell her and we're still waiting. I say to my daughter, "at this point I want it to go". She apparently heard that and tells the ppl in the back, "she wants it to go"! Finally received our TO GO order, after 40 mins and people being served b4 us bc my little $75 order wasn't as important as the 20 ppl that came AFTER us. Whether or not it was pre planned, someone should have said something to us. No apology, no nothing. Just put my order in the bag and we were on our way. NEVER AGAIN. This was my 1st and LAST time! Treat every csr the same and acknowledge what's going on in your establishment!! My food was flavorful but mediocre at best. I had the "pork bowl" and a beef empanada. Mac n cheese needs more....., greens were a bit salty, rice and peas were good and pork was dry. Strawberry...
Read moreThe customer service was extremely bad. My family and I walked in and no one greeted us. It was my first time being there so we didn’t know what to do. The young lady looked at us and continue to do what she was doing. She was very rude and did not care about customers. As I realize this is not a traditional restaurant, I see that there’s not much seats so I asked the lady can we combine two tables so I can fit my family. She then went to I guess, ask the owner and he said yes again we don’t know what to do. We’re just trying to figure out as we look around how to order they had a scan card on the table that brings up the menu, which was very time consuming. It’s pretty difficult to ask questions when no one wants to come to the table so again, I had to ask the girl for help with certain items on the menu. She went and got the owner and he came and explain some of the items. We only went to this place because it was on a food and wine article that seem like a great place to go. I expected more of a southern/ Puerto Rican hospitality feel, but we was greeted with none. I guess they make so much money that they don’t need to value every customer that walks through that door. The meat portion is very small, but the pernil (pork) was tasty and season well, just like my grandfather’s . Hopefully they will be able to get better on their customer service and treat everybody the...
Read moreLearned about this place back when they had the pop up shop open. Great empanadas! Love it!
Edit 5/22 These folks are awesome! They actually spoke to me about my review and cleared everything up about the sauces. Still I forgot the name of the sauce, but Its delicious anyway!
Edit: 4/22 This place is still amazing, HOWEVER, there is one thing that they continuously do that I do not like. That is... they don't give me the same sauces every time I place an order.
Sometimes I come home with one sauce another time I come home with some other sauce. Sometimes I come home with all three different sauces. Sometimes it's only two. And I typically order the same thing each time. This has also been a problem when we sat down to eat there. Luckily we're able to go in and exchange the sauce but, it's getting to the point where I have to learn the sauces and they look so similar that I can't always tell.
There should be a clear way to determine what kind of sauce you get and they should be consistent with either, packing all three of the different sauces or asking you exactly what you want and they should be able to explain which one is which because you can't tell by simply looking at it. Labels would be helpful or again, just consistently give out the same sauce with each meal or ask the customer which...
