Orderd 2 chicken tinga tacos and a side of rice and refried beans. If you are a big street taco eater you would expect the corn tacos to come with 2 corn tortillas, these only came with one which I felt was a bit cheap not to include two. Also felt for the price of these tacos they would have had more filling. I have had street tacos from other local restaurants with more meat filling for a lesser cost per taco. Side of rice was decent, no complaints. Side of refried beans were terrible. Tasted like they came straight from a can but worse. Chicken tinga is white and dark meat if that helps anyone else when thinking about ordering from there. I grew up eating Mexican food from one side of my family so I would know what delicious mexican food tastes like, this is not it unfortunately. Wish I would have liked it, it would have given me more options to go for my lunch breaks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've had El Camino twice since they opened. The first time, the El Camino salsa really stood out as the star of the meal. It's supposed to be mild, but it's still decently spicy for a Minnesota palate (in the best way!) and is just a generally pretty great salsa. I'm typing this during my second visit and I'm having a hard time choosing my favorite item. I had the barbacoa taco, crispy chicken taco, and a side of Dad's Rice. Everything today was great! The tacos left a nice medium heat behind and the rice was a great way to tame it a bit.
I have no idea if this place is related in any way to the Rusty Taco that was at this location before (with which I did have more than one disappointing experience), but so far El Camino seems to be well run and the food has been great. Looking forward to continuing to try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time trying this place. So first, we (my husband who is Hispanic and I) love ethnic foods, big on authenticity and flavor. The first thing we noticed when walking into El Camino was the music. It was nice authentic music, but it definitely didn't match the food. The menu items weren't necessarily authentic to traditional tacos. They do try very hard. The tacos are a little over priced for a place trying really hard for Mexican tacos. The bowls are mediocre, and the guacamole was too salty. Though, I believe the guacamole is made in house, so I'll give them that since it wasn't the "perfect" flavor. I would have liked to see more variety on the meat like tongue and pork belly. The staff were really kind and after a little mix up they fixed my bowl and that was really...
