New China Buffet — Restaurant in Eagle Pass

Oh my gaawd. This place was HORRIBLE. Ya know, I really should have known better, but my colleague was dead set on eating here. In his defense, the buffet did look appealing to the naked eye (plenty of steam in the air coming from the buffet trays, looked hot and fresh). Boy was that deceiving. The spicy chicken was cold and the actual chicken had a Rubbery texture to it (I couldn't even eat it (had to spit it out). The crab? (Imitation). The fried shrimp was something else altogether. It didn't even taste like a shrimp. It was like a mushy/soggy....."something" that is hard to even describe. The only thing that was good was them little sugar puff bread things. Everything else VERY bad. It don't take a genius to figure out what's going on here. This place is buying the cheapest low quality product, and preparing it at an absolute bare minimum and "obviously" re-heating whatever's left over. DONT DO IT! Spend your $18 elsewhere, hell even McDonald's would prove to be less disappointing. I can only imagine what's going on in the kitchen and what it looks like in...

I liked this place a long time ago, pretty much when if first opened. NOW, it just plain sucks. Little to no variety (more chicken nuggets and pizza than anything else), food is overcooked at the bar (maybe from the overhead lights because whatever heater they have isn't working) and is virtually cold by the time you sit at your table because the ceiling fans are all on. The food is either REALLY salty (not exaggerating), or just plain tasteless. The texture of the fried foods (e.g. general tso, sesame chicken) is like a paste because its just simmering in tasteless juices. The glasses are chipped and disgusting btw. Sadly I'm scratching this place off my list for good... and I'm really tough...

We came through here to eat and stretch our legs a lilttle since we have 6 more hours to make it home. Let me just say, i am extremely disappointed in their food, service and the palce was not clean at at all. Some food was undercooked, others were plain cold, the fries where greasy and soggy. We werent even done eating from our plate and someone was already asking to pick up our plate.
