I have very mixed feelings about writing this review because, on the one hand, Tilly's is easily one of the best restaurants in EG, they deserve the accolades, & most importantly, I desperately hope they stay here for the long haul. On the other, I feel like it's the best kept secret in town and I don't want everyone to catch on & have to a fight for a table when we come in a few times a week. I've decided that withholding a good review for my own benefit is just too selfish. This place is amazing. We come in for brunch often, and stroll confidently past the heaps of people waiting on the sidewalk for Jigger's or Ed's to walk right in to Tilly's with no wait and have a much more interesting breakfast. They are literally one of the only restaurants in town with an interesting menu. I think we've tried almost everything by now & there isn't a thing we haven't loved. But, the standouts are: The duck breakfast sandwich, seasoned lox on anything, and if you don't take some sliced pastrami for the road,...
Read moreWe were looking forward to tasting the onion soup, so what a huge disappointment when my husband said "this is awful acidic ". I tasted it and it appears to have vinegar-probably balsamic-in it. Really? why would you ruin your onion soup that way?
It wasn't all bad..there's actually onions in it and the cheese toast that goes with was good. However, the "bowl" of soup was about 1/2 cup for $7.
For $14, I said don't toss it because maybe I can make it edible.
Also, this is supposed to be a farm-to-plate place. They put the food in lovely recyclable packaging, but then they give you plastic utensils in a plastic bag!
Recommend that they make fresh food and leave the "cutesy" out of it.
update: as they say, if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. If you are only looking for 5 star ratings you will be sorely disappointed.
The soup is the first thing we tried and we gave you an honest opinion. You didn't respond to our comments, you complained that we posted our opinion....
Read moreHad an amazing brunch here Sunday morning. Food was excellent - ordered the Double Duck, a sandwich with duck egg and shredded duck confit on toasted sourdough bread, and the D.T.E.B., the special Eggs Benedict of the week served on top of duck confit fried rice. I also got the Dalgona Latte, a Korean sweet whipped coffee drink, which was silky and velvety smooth. Service was extremely friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was trendy and hip - while also very chill and cozy.
Downtown Tilly overall has a great mix of outstanding classics and unique offerings, at affordable prices - they’ve honestly got one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, and I’m excited to try more of their creative dishes in the future. Make sure to check out their deli meat that’s sold by the pound! Definitely my new favorite restaurant on Main St., and among my top 10 restaurants in...
