My wife and I talked highly about our experiences here in the past! We have taken our dog here several times and eaten on the patio with live music! Loved the Dog Menu Idea! Could not stop talking about it! We live in Western Massachusetts and drove 2 hours to spend the day in Newport with friends then go to dinner at Blu! Knowing it was a Sunday and would be a busy day. We put in reservations for outdoor seating several hours before because we wanted to hear the band. Reservations were accepted and we showed up 10 minutes early.

When we showed up, we were directed inside to check in by one of the security guards who wouldn’t let us into the patio without a reservation. Rudely greeted by a group of teens at the hostess counter. We were asked if we had a reservation and said “yes, we requested a table for 4 outside on the patio!” Immediately to be told “yeah that’s not going to happen for another hour and a half, we have a seat for you inside…” We where pissed but bit our tongues. If we were on vacation and had time to argue it out and speak to management we would have. But we just wanted to eat and hit the road home! So whatever we shrugged it.

We were sat to the left side of the building about a foot away from the door that went out to the patio! Where we could visibly see 3 tables not being occupied! We were sat next to a table that was not cleaned our entire visit! The door non stop opening closing opening and closing! We continuously watched people walk onto the patio passed the security guard who stopped us. And sit at these empty tables!!!! Waiters and waitresses coming in and out with trays right over the top of our heads. No AC, No Breeze, just stuffy and uncomfortable! We waited 15-20 for our waitress to come over. She spilt half a glass of water on the table and didn’t apologize or offer to clean it up, just walked away and didn’t ask if we wanted drinks… We waited another 15 minutes for her to come back to order drinks and appetizers. At that time we mentioned that my wife has a severe Scallop Allergy and cannot have anything fried if they use the same oil for everything! Our waitresses head spun and she didn’t understand or know what to do. We politely asked if she could ask management or a cook! We watched our waitress walk back over to her friends and continue talking… No care in the world! About 15-20 minutes later she went to get our drinks. We asked again when she came back, immediately she said very unsure “yes we use the same oil for everything!” Which at that time made it very difficult to order because everything is fried on the menu! Anything we asked if it was fried, she didn’t know! My wife just stuck to soup, asparagus, and muscles… The appetizers when they came out were almost dropped in my lap but the waiter caught them on tray right as it tipped off his hand! Appetizers were great and the drinks were great! As usual! Not going to complain about that! However when our actual meals came out my fish was overcooked on my fish tacos and the fries where over fried. My buddy ordered the same thing and his was overcooked as well. Still good flavor! Never once did a manager come over to check on us!

The bill was $240. It really wasn’t worth it this time. With tip $270 which honestly would have been more if the experience was better! Then you have to tip the valet guy! It’s a lot of money! The whole time we watch people showing up in high end vehicles in their salmon colored shorts and collared shirts walking straight to these empty tables! Pretty crappy feeling! Probably won’t drive the 2 hours ever again! Very unfortunate because we really liked this place for the...

We had a terrible experience. I picked this place for a Mother’s Day dinner making reservations the week before. At the check-in desk we were walked through the restaurant and then walked outside with the host who then entered another portion of the building and we were seated inside this second location. Almost like an annex. But it had no other guests and food on the floor such as napkins, a cherry from a drink, a straw almost like someone tried sweeping up but, had no dust pan. It looked like no one had attended to it or swept it in a while. It was an immediate turn off and it was even difficult to take nice Mother’s Day pictures inside because the glass was hazy because of possible window sealant problems. It was in much need of a renovation. Very dark and depressing. Our server was very nice. Wasn’t his fault. However he recommended lobster tacos. He said they were having a special of some sort. My original order was just the fish tacos but we ended up upgrading. The lobster tacos were too spicy to even taste. I wish they would’ve put the hot sauce on the side. You couldn’t concentrate on the taste of the lobster or the food. We also had someone else choose a lobster roll in our group and it was fine along with a penne pasta dish, and Chicken wrap. We found that our at market price for the lobster roll was $30 which is normal but, the lobster tacos ended up being $44 and there was no additional special. The waiter chalked it up to miscommunication. I definitely felt as though it had less lobster in it than a typical lobster roll.It was a definite thumbs down as far as ambience, cleanliness, and food, I wouldn’t bother getting food there in the future. This was a horrible place to spend $200. We eat out a lot and we were sorry we came here with so many other options.

** During the summer after Memorial Day I will say I like the outdoor bar and music a lot.. PERFECT DATE NIGHT. However, I will emphasize that I would NOT decide to eat here on a date night and I would come here after for drinks and good music outside by the water with their...

We were looking forward to dinner all week. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. We showed up on time for our reservation. However, the hostess seemed to be a little annoyed. Maybe she was having a bad day. We were seated right away. Our table was next to an outside door with lots of people going in and out. Not a great table, but you never know where you will be seated. It was our 1st time at the restaurant and did not know where to ask for seating. It was literally 15 minutes before any staff member approached us. Our server finally stopped by. We ordered a bottle of wine, an shrimp cocktail and asked for water with some lemon. Our shrimp cocktail arrived in 5 minutes. No side plates. No water No wine. We did have someone stop(not our server) and ask if we need side plates. I said sure and could you please bring by water our server should be by soon with our wine. Our water showed up with no straws. Hmm maybe they have to be requested. I looked around and everyone else in our section was getting straws. Sounds silly I know but it was indicative of the service we got. We finally got our wine. My wife and I both ordered the fish and chips. We sat and enjoyed our wine and shrimp. Our entrees arrived at the same time we finished our 1st glass of wine. Our server asked if we were enjoying the wine and if we want another bottle. I said no we have had only one glass each. Then she walked away without pouring any wine. I just don’t get it. Dinner out is supposed to be an experience. I poured our glasses and we waited for our dinner. Fish and Chips arrived. I asked for ketchup and salt and pepper. The server then stopped and took an order next to us and engaged in a lengthy conversation before getting the our request for ketchup and seasonings. It was close to 10 minutes before it arrived. Fish was undercooked and not great. I made my meal out of French fries. Overall this has to go into my top 5 worst dining...

This place is awesome for views and atmosphere. I hadn’t been in a few years, simply because the food was usually not great. Someone gave me a gift card so I came to give it another try. Bartenders at the outside bar were nice. Specialty cocktail with ghost tequila, passion fruit and carrot was delicious. We ordered the wings for an appetizer. They came out looking a little weird, but we tried to bite into them. They were so hard crispy and fried to death that they were inedible. Even the bartender commented that she couldn’t believe how they looked and felt. We were bummed. We sent them back and asked if we could try the scallops instead. Some invisible manager was kind enough to comp both appetizers. But see the photo of what the scallops came out like. I called it bacon dust. Fried beyond recognition. We choked them down since we were starving. The last thing we ordered was a jalapeño smash burger with truffle fries. How can you mess that up? Well the fries were all cold and the burger was grossly sweet. We got it in a wrap and it was covered in grease. It was awful. Being in the restaurant industry for 20 years you can tell this place is poorly run. I wanted to go in the kitchen and tell them to turn the temp down on the fryer oil. That food made its way from a chef, through an expo and a food runner? No manager visit? No special care to make sure the next course came out perfectly? This place isn’t about quality it’s about volume. Drink here, but avoid the food at all costs.

Blu On The Water in East Greenwich is an excellent seafood restaurant with a great menu that includes some very unique and tasty dishes that you can’t find anywhere else in the area. We went for a late lunch and were promptly seated on the outside deck per our request. We started with a watermelon sangria, crisp, light and sweet. This was followed by a half dozen local oysters that were served on a bed of ice with all the traditional accompaniments. We also got the fruta picante which included watermelon, mango and cucumber lightly seasoned with tajin. The tanjin provided a unique and different flavor experience to the cucumber and fruit. The drinks and appetizers were superb and cleansed our palettes for the next course, lobster meat tacos. This dish was absolutely delicious. The meal included two tacos which was perfect since we shared everything. The tacos included a mango salsa and avocado blend that was both tasty and subtle which allowed the lobster flavor to break loose. This was followed by a house salad and the Crispy Shrimp Boa Buns. Again we were pleasantly surprised with an unexpected mix of crispy shrimp, sweet boa bun that also had a crunch, and more blend involving avocado and coleslaw and other delicious flavors. We capped off this exquisite lunch with the key lime pie, perfectly sized for sharing and slightly sweet with a tart flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant for 5 star dining in a delightful water view marina setting. Well done!
