Silver Spoon Bakery — Restaurant in East Greenwich

On a recent visit to Greenwich I stopped at this bakery but prior to stopping I called to see what cupcake flavors they had. The young lady that answered the phone told me they have a lot of flavors. I was kind of taken aback by her response and when I walked in I told her that I would have appreciated it if she would have let me know what flavors they had because I wasn’t interested in any they had to offer at that time. I ended up buying a chocolate chip cookie that was really good and my niece and sister got cupcake’s that were two different flavors but had the same cake as a base and different flavors of filling. They were disappointed because they were expecting the cake itself to be that particular flavor. I also felt that she could have been a tad bit nicer. My overall experience from the time I called until the time I walked out the door to leave was not great.

Fast forward a few months and my brother goes to this bakery for Mother’s Day cupcakes due to a coworker referral. He purchased $60 worth of cupcakes and once again they all had the same base cake and different fillings quite a disappointment and again the cupcakes were just ok. My sister in law told him about our previous experience there and how unwelcoming they were and wouldn’t you know it, he said he had the exact same experience. That let me know that I was right in feeling the way I did. Smh. Sadly we will never visit that bakery again. Customer service is key in this day and age and it is very important that every customer is treated with respect and feel welcomed when they come through your door. Unfortunately they haven’t...

Starting with the positive, the cupcakes are outstanding with that being said, there is something to say for professionalism. I have been getting cupcakes for my children’s birthdays at this bakery for several years. I was visiting the bakery to place an order and we purchased cupcakes while placing the order. One of my kids tripped on the flooring while trying to navigate out of the small room and dropped the cupcake. Instead of the cashier recognizing that they were trying to navigate a small space while other people were coming in and giving them another cupcake they made me purchase one despite having paid well over $100 for an order of cupcakes. Several months ago we had a medical emergency the day of one of my children’s parties. We called to notify them that we were in the ER and we would not be able to pick up the cupcakes. Their primary concern was repeatedly asking when somebody would pick up the cupcakes. I sent correspondence to the owner of the bakery specifically stating the concerns, and I never received a response. having a good product is one thing, but you need to have the professionalism and superior customer service to back up that product. Sadly, this is something that seems to have gone by the wayside with this business. Based on this they will never have our business again I can assure you, everyone that was supposed to attend the party was notified of how unprofessional this business handled a very serious situation...

We used Silver Spoon for our wedding cake this past August 2023. Lynne was awesome to work with the whole process- our cake tasting was great and she truly can make you anything you can want/imagine. When we weren’t sold on 1 of the flavors for the tasting, she gave us a cupcake she had in the shop to taste of another flavor (which nailed it!!!) free of charge. I (as well as my Aunt/Grandmother) am a HARSH critic on cakes as my family bakes a ton, but her cakes are incredible. The wedding cake got absolutely stellar reviews from EVERY single guest - almost every guest had a piece because they had heard it was so good! We were able to choose 3 flavors and every one was awesome. The cake also was beautiful and exactly what we had wanted. Lynne was organized, on time, and professional (really nice too!).
